I'm not trying to be negative here, but a post on Haven has me a little worried. The latest is the Nick Hill and Ryan Lambert are transferring. Of course, earlier this it was said that Kevin Massiah is going to transfer (even though we haven't heard ANYTHING said about it officially since then, so maybe that one isn't true). Regardless, the number of people that have left the team since Coach Horn has taken over is beginning to concern me somewhat. I know that you are usually going to have transfers and people leaving the team win a new coach takes over, but it does seem like we've had a lot. Most of them I'd be willing to write off because they were Felton's recruits, but now one of Horn's recruits may also be leaving. Why would Lambert leave? He saw a lot of playing time last year, so that shouldn't be an issue. He spent a year away from at Hargrove Military Academy (it's in southwestern Virginia and he's from Maryland-a good 3.5 to 4 hour drive) before he came to the Hill, so he should be used to being away from home. First of all, hopefully this newest rumor isn't correct., but if it is, I just hope this all isn't a pattern. I still have faith that Coach Horn can get the ship headed in the right direction, but I do think this is an area that may be worth keeping an eye on the next few years.

The other concern is that if all of these players leave, then we don't have very many players returning that saw much game action last year. While Hill and Massiah didn't get to play very much last year at least they had a year's worth of time getting use to Horn's system. Lambert, on the other hand, saw significant playing time, and I was expecting a lot from him next year. All I can say is if these 3 players do leave, then I hope our new recruiting class (wish I'm very pleased with so far) are fast learners and contribute quickly and often.

Boy I hope not. I think that next years team has a lot of potential. This would be very frustrating.

So far we've lost players that haven't produced. I'm okay with that considering the players we are bringing in. Brown was a crybaby and was lazy, glad he is gone. Massiah never did anything. He was non-factor his freshman year with Felton and was injured last year. It would probably good for him to start fresh elsewhere, no loss there. Ryan Lambert (IF true, don't count him gone) was not near as effective as we had hoped he would have been last year. He was soft, a loss, but not a huge loss. Nick Hill, he doesn't seem to have the speed that Horn needs. He had one great game last year against a Div II school. Again non-factor.

If we start losing players like Winchester, Haynes, Rumph, etc... then let's be worried. Horn is going to demand his players to be fit, aggressive, and very hard working. A lazy player will no place on his team. Right now, I don't see that we are losing our workhorses.

Let's hold off before we get in a panic.
We have a FANTASTIC recruiting class coming in. You know something is good when we got players walking on that turned down Div I scholarships elsewhere.

No prob. I am still confident. We will have a young team next year, but they players will fit Horn's system well. 2005-06 should be a great year for us.

We have 6 returning players, only 4 scholarship returning players however:

Returning:

Antonio Haynes
Anthony Winchester
Danny Rumph
Josh Higgins
Kalin Holland (walk-on)
Teco Dickerson (walk-on)

Incoming:

Boris Siakam
Courtney Lee
Ty Rogers
Mike Walker
Elgrace Wilborn (Transfer from TN)
Matt Maresca (walk-on)

Their are possibly one to two more players we will add either transfer or JUCO.

We'll be solid at the PG spot going 2 deep, could be at the 2 guard, and the Center spot will be fine. However at the 3 and 4 spots, there are huge question marks. It all depends on how well the Freshmen turn out, or if we do land a JUCO player or two. If we cna get a JUCo to get some immediate help that would be ideal but typically this late there aren't many quality JUCO's left.

I don't agree we are solid at the PG. Rumph is ok, but wouldn't say SOLID. Now, if things plan out like they should.. we will be better.
