Perhaps their pitching is already down to earth and they are just good young pitchers. ;-)

Sox still take this division, take it to the bank.

Do you realize that even if Detroit only plays .500 ball for the rest of the season the White Sox would have to play over .700 ball to catch them.

I love when you do math and pull these stats out of your rear. I hate it even more when you are right about them. Except when it comes to the Sox, then it is worth it. Make sure you remember to collect on your bet with the other roommate.

the sox have been playing like complete sh*t the last few days (the whole 2nd half really) and its now starting to piss me off. If we won the wild card today, we'd stand no chance in the playoffs. Although it can be argued that the low strike zone that the Ump gave Rogers but not Buehrle had an impact yesterday......

did buehrle think that one up too? he always has an excuse that has nothing to do with playing bad. the signal lights at the ball park at arlington, maddux throwing a spitball, now different strikezones? wow, can anyone be a good pitcher? buehrle wouldn't know anything about that though, what is he? 11-11? great number three pitcher.

edit: sorry he is 10-11. don't want to mis-state his talent.

I'm not trying to make up excuses for Buehrle or the Sox. They scored 0 runs which gives you 0 chance of winning and Buehrle still didn't pitch good. But, if you watched the game, they showed a Kenny Rogers pitch side by side with a Buehrle pitch. The rogers pitch was a good 2 inches lower than Buehrle's pitch yet Rogers pitch was called for a strike while #56's pitch was called for a ball. The ump was inconsistent in his strike zone is the only point.

so you are using one pitch as an example? great work.

Hah, your statement that #56 wouldn't know anything about being a good pitcher is just dumb. Is he having a bad year? yes. But, over the span of his career, he has been good.

hold on, did you even watch the game? It was consistently like that the whole night. This was an EXAMPLE of what was happening. Again, i'm not making any excuses. The sox played bad and lost.

well for someone that was supposed to be your number one i think a bad year is an understatement.

he hasn't been the #1 all year. Contreras was the #1 in the first half and Garland is showing to be the #1 this half. No one has considered #56 the #1 for a while. Quit trying to make argument just for the sake of argument. Your ignorance of the Sox is just brutal

thats why i said supposed to be. i never said he was. but going into the year everyone kept saying how even though 56 was the number 1 pitcher, the sox had 3 or 4 number ones. that has really shown through with the rotation they have this year.

well, it was not an inaccurate statement to make at the beginning of the season when analyzing last years performances. The inconsistency of this year wasn't even a factor yet.

I'd sure hope it wasn't a factor yet or else all the sportswriters and my friends that are Sox fans are just dumb.

Still in the lead for the wildcard. The World Series winners for 97, 02, 03 & 04 were all wildcard teams and with the AL having home field advantage in the World Series again (thank you Bud Selig); all the WS have to do is get in the playoffs and win the AL title. The World Series will fall in their lap.

Exactly. The Tigers are just 5-11 in their last 16 games and the Sox are still 5.5 games out. Next the Sox have to play the Twins. The Sox are just 3-4 in their last 7 games against the Tigers and Twins. They will have to do better than that if they are going to win the Division.

I still say it is either Detroit and Minnesota to win the division.
