Spinoff: Whats the most intimidating MAC venue....
For visiting fans? I've only been to ball state, so i can't really pick and choose. You can't choose your home stadium because you're not a *visitor* of it.

Lot's of drunk college students gave us stick at the Doyt. We also had stuff thrown at our bus there.

Their fans overall were pretty cool, and I haven't been "intimidated" at any of the 5 venues I've been to.

There are always going to be idiots everywhere who can't hold their liquor and act like morons, but in general all the road trips I've made following NIU have been fun.

back in the day it was definatley UT, with Central then NIU...Central USED to have wasted fans IN THE STANDS when we arrived on the team bus. UT was interesting because the students were RIGHT behind the players- many objects and expletives thrown. NIU had the BIG SIDE that looked awesome when filled. OU is beautiful but the fans are too far away. I wish Kent could round up some fans because it was cool to play in. Western is awesome now not so much then but overall a nice envirnon. Eastern (before it became the concrete empty beast it is today) was pretty non-descript. BG COULD be cool but the fans are too far away and the press box looks like someone smashed it to 3' high- I hope the EZ facility will help the appearance not to mention WIND. Never played Akron or UB. If I was bettin marbles today I'd say it would be ( preface with each school having a good team, in the hunt and a nice day/night )

#1 NIU
#2 UT/ Miami
#3 WMU
#4 BG/CMU
#5 OU
#6 BSU
#7 Akron
#8 Kent
#9 UB/Eastern

Can anyone post a list with pics??

I would say Marshall by far, but they aren't in the MAC anymore.

I don't know that there is a venue in the MAC that is intimidating and I haven't been treated bad anywhere now that Marshall isn't in the MAC.

If I had to choose one, I guess it would be Bowling Green. However, that probably has a lot to do with our rivalry.

Based on the 4 road games I went to last year and the 2 I went to the previous year, here is the way I would rate them. WMU used to be #2 but they have sucked lately and had poor crowds.

1. Toledo
2. CMU
3. WMU
4. Akron
5. Ball State
6. Kent State

I never got the chance to play at NIU...I was hurt both times 03-weeping

BG was a tough place to play, due to it being a rivalry game. Unfortunately, they do not have the same type of atmosphere for other games.

Miami, WMU and CMU were tough as well. I'd give the edge to CMU. CMU was strong when I played. I still remember some drunk little bastard getting in my face after CMU beat us in 1990...great game, awful result.

I blew my knee out at BSU, so I can't stand that place.

Kent was a tough place to play due to the lack of fans. It's tough to run out into a 30K stadium with only 500-100 fans. The atmosphere was like a spring ball scrimmage.

As mentioned above, OU's fans were pretty far away from the action. I liked playing there though.

I only played at Akron once...their first MAC game and they beat us on a last second 50+ yard FG. I don't recall much other than that.

My rankings in stadiums that I played at:

1)BG - because of the UT rivalry
2)CMU
3)WMU
4)Miami
5)OU
6)Kent
7)BSU
8)Akron
9)EMU

For those that mentioned that OU fans were too far away (it sounds like you were both players) I assume this was before the track removal and renovations?

Haven't visited too many MAC venues for football, but Marshall blew them all out of the water in the 97 reg season finale. Toledo was good, but I'm surprised that place isn't packed for every game. I've always wanted to see Waldo stadium for a big game, but have only seen it in the offseason.

Definitely Ball State. Not many stadiums can be as intimidating as the Letterman...

There are still plenty of wasted fans, but too many are hanging out in the parking lot. 01-wingedeagle We need to get more of those bodies to stagger into the stadium before halftime. :drunk2:
