Also I have to comment on the student section they had people in there watching the game in pouring rain while everyone was leaving. They were dancing in the rain with the band at the UAB game and the Houston Game. We have some loyal fans to sit threw the rain with no cover dancing. I think that is when the band does the best because we really get into the game when it is raining, we do our best half-time shows when it is raining. Might get sick, but to me thats when every student that stays really gets pumped up.

Bigtom9221 Wrote:Yeah I was there, lol I am in the band so I attend every football, and basketball game. Yeah the UAB game was cool, I remeber it was raining and they had a guy jumped out of the bleachers at half time and the cops were chasing him down lol. I was one of the few hardcore UL supporters in the band that stayed when it was raining at that game. I was also there last year when it rained for the Houston Game, I stayed for that too. Not trying to brag lol. Yeah that was a fun game I thought before going in to the UAB game that we would lose. We picked up the win and I was suprised. GEAUX UL!!!!!!!
Man, you rawk, but yea, I was there for the UAB game, and for the Houston game, my 2 favorite games thus far to have been too. Man, I was right there with you, I was on the front rail when the rain came down, and didnt move an inch (both times). Truthfully, I didnt care, I wasnt going home and there was no where i could go that i wouldent get wet anyway, so i just stayed both times. I remember going around and kicking water on another dood, and we kept saying "damnit dood, you got water on my water"...for some reason its much more funny when your bored out of your mind, waiting for your team to get back on the field :-P.

P.S. Keep up the good work in the band, its great to have the music at the game.

It is not my first memory, but whenever I see or hear Cajuns I immediately think of Dwight Lamar. Do any of you guys remember him; he was really good!!!!

He played before my time, but I've heard stories and read newspaper articles about him. Many still consider him the greatest player in UL basketball history.

The first memory was the first time I heard of UL in 1972.

I was signing out of my California high school and the P.E. coach, who was also varsity basketball coach, said, "Southwestern Louisiana, 13th-ranked basketball team in the nation."

At the time I had never set foot in Louisiana in my life. I've lived here ever since.

I did not know that SLI was in the state hardly when I was a junior in 1953, but I had a good friend from Winnsboro that played baseball down there and he asked me to come down and visit him one pretty spring day when the flowers were blooming and crawfish were in season and pretty girls were every where to be seen. I loved my very first visit there and have loved it every since I guess. I am red & white throughout and just purchased a new red Chev. truck. I saw Dwight (Bo) Lamar play several times and he is the best I have seen play at Lafayette.
