The football stadium complex at stAte sits in a natural bowl and is a really nice site. I do not get back to stAte as much as I should, but I will most likely be at stAte when Memphis State comes to town in September. They can call themselves whatever they wish, but they will always be Memphis State or Tiger High to me LOL!!!!

Update on stAte's Strength and Conditioning Center from the Jonesboro Sun:

Construction sends ASU athletes outside

By Seth Holmun
Sun sports writer
When strength and conditioning coach John Arce arrived at Arkansas State University in January, 2001, he had three football players who could power clean 300 pounds. The roof on the weight room leaked, the lights hummed loudly in the stifling indoor heat and the floor was sloped.
Now Arce stands outside swatting mosquitoes and sweeping away standing water from ASU’s temporary weight facility underneath the stands on the west concourse of Indian Stadium.
In about a month, it should all be worth it as ASU continues to improve its athletic facilities and selling points to potential recruits.
Twenty years ago, the Indian football team could practice its triple-option rushing attack on sloped artificial turf in an area that was also used for lifting weights. The last few years, despite some improvements, the strength and conditioning area of the complex was out of date.
But the ASU weight room is now being renovated as the Boe and Myrna Adams Strength and Conditioning Center, part of ASU’s Performance Enhancement Complex. Funding for the project was provided through the $250,000 contribution by Boe and Myrna Adams of Leachville.
Work on the weight room is ahead of schedule and Aug. 8 is the targeted completion date. In the meantime, ASU athletes from all sports have worked out under tents at the football stadium.
The entire contents of the weight room were brought outdoors and set up into different stations.
Progress doesn’t happen overnight.
