MAC hoops recruiting
Anyone got a total list of MAC signees. I'm aware of some, but either it's a light recruiting year or there's some other names out there.

EMU is in play big for Spring recruiting
No one seems to know if Eastern will sign 1, 2 or 3 MORE kids.

and if it is '3', how do the scholarships shake out.

I've lost my zeal for recruiting, but I think there are 3 scenarios:

1). Sign 1 and save 1 scholarship,

2). Sign 2,

3). Sign 3 with perhaps one of the kids who were suspended during the season or perhaps a kid struggling academically or something else accounting for the 3rd scholarship.

I have NO inside knowledge which scenario and if it is #3 who isn't coming back.

Three names who have visited recently have been floated on other boards and sites.

Ohio is using one scholarship for Bubba Walther 6-4 SG who arrived on campus in January. Bobcats need a Big pf/c and a pg with the 2 scholarship available.

There may be a new 'Shaq of the Mac' coming your way! BG's Otis Polk, 6'9' 290 center, but some people are saying he is pushing 310 to 320 right now. About time we hopefully get a reliable presence inside!!! He will be starting right away I imagine, since our center this past year has feet problems.

As opposed to the seeing-his-feet problems Polk may have? ;-)

thanks
thanks for the info. surprised ou hasn't gotten more mileage out of their tourney run. the last two classes have been rather thin. tillman was a nice late addition, but o`shea still doesn't seem like a good fit there.

toledo also has a d2 transfer named dover (not ben) who wasn't on a full ride but had made a good impression on the coaches. he's a little guard, not certain he'll stick.

Recruits want pt first and Ohio's lineup has been set with the young nucleus in place. It easy to recruit when you got half the team transfering out every year at some schools. Expect for Fears, Ohio hasn't has any defections like other schools.

yeah
true
but ou is losing their leading scorer, a starting swingman, their point guard (more or less) and has a few seniors in their rotation coming into their last year, so i don't think pt is a huge issue. i guess the other side is that i respect ou as a school and think it has the personality, facilties and all to be little better.
western has about the same amount of guys back and i don't think any of their seniors to be will play much and still they bring in an excellent 4 man class. part of that is credit to their staff and players, but it still stands out in comparison.
toledo's situation is different in that joplin was played by an administration that didn't really support him and left him trying to recruit without a contract essentially, not to mention commissioning a fifth (no joke) feasability study on the savage hall rehab that should have been finished already. we were lucky to get our only signee, although he's a good fit and our roster is pretty balanced. however, next year will be an important recruiting year for us.

Too bad his name wasn't Ben it would be perfect. Along with Rockets giving him a full ride. 04-jawdrop

Why is OU taking Walther? Can anyone explain that? He was a marginal player at AU and got beat out. Programs of OU's stature should have no problems consistently getting better players than him.

Because it was just explained, OU has no spots available. They can't recruit really good players until next season. :shhh: Striving for mediocrity.

Buffalo is losing Jonas Jerebko- Swedish kid (father's family from Buffalo) who decided to turn pro in Sweden. 03-hissyfit

Betts is the player most are excited about- reminds some of WMU's Ben Reed. He's also local- from Rochester. I'd like to see Buffalo expand their "footprint" and capture some of those Rochester fans. 05-stirthepot

I agree. I think that the Democrat & Chronicle (Rochester's Newspaper) will be giving UB alot of coverage over the next four years now that Betts will be at UB!

By the way, for the Buffalo posters,,,,,why does it seem like Rochester area high school basketball & football is better on the whole than the Buffalo area? I realize Niagara Falls has given WNY a big boost in hoops but still, Rochester seems to have more quantity of the better programs.

You are insane. Better than the TJ Lux class that had 3 top 250 players, better than the Kenny Battle class that also had Jim Edmondson, better than the Donnell Thomas and Stacy Arrington class, Mike Lipnisky and Mark Layton class ...

I could keep going fro a long time not everything translated to great college teams for the above, but they were infinitely more highly regarded class than the current signing class. Know something before you post. The current class has one solid player and a bunch of projects. Not much better than the last 5 years.

Oh sure, this list of signees is better than the one that included Kenny Battle, Jim Edmondson, and Darren White. 01-wingedeagle

That "Marvolous Seven" class, or whatever the they called it, was the most overhyped class that I've ever seen enter the league. Battle was only great player, and while truly dominant, he bailed on you after the head coach was fired (Rosborough?).

For the MAC as a whole, the OU class that included Jamison and Graham, if I recall correctly, was pretty good. Also, the fat guy's class that included McCurdy, Kidd, and a number others, was very strong as well. Sendek has some great hauls as well.
