Agreed. Alabama has to be one of the greatest moments in my life and wouldn't trade it for anything.
Even with a win at tOSU, I don't feel like it will match up to the overall experience at Alabama. There was so much more that went into being down there, probably the most important was the incredible fans. tOSU fans are going to be a$$holes and we will be lucky to get out of there with our lives if we win.
I wasn't at Alabama and I understand the tradition that goes along with that program, but how could beating the number 1 team in the nation not match up to beating a marginal top 25 team like Bama was.
Well, who is to say that OSU will be #1? They will most likely be top 5 in most polls and #1 in only a few if any.

In the average of the 6 major pre-season top 25 rankings that have come out OSU is number 1. That is usually a pretty good indication of who will come out as preseason number 1 in the media and coaches poll. Im not saying they necessarily deserve the number 1 ranking, but you know how goo-goo gaa-gaa people go over OSU. They have some major defensive questions to address to warrant a number one ranking in my opinion.

Even though Alabama was not a top 25 team that year they have had more success than Ohio State. If my memory serves me correctly, Alabama has won more bowl games than any D1-A football team. Besides, football means everything down there in the south. Look at Alabama now. They're back on top like they always have been. 2003 was a down year, a lot of it had to do with the penalties that they got hit with by the NCAA.

Understood. But a win over OSU would mean about 10 times more to the NIU football program than the win at Alabama. A win versus a top 1 or 2 ranked team in the nation would set NIU up football success for the next 10 years.

Without a doubt Ohio State is the biggest game we play this year. I could only imagine what winning out our entire schedule could do for NIU. Going 12-0. Yes, i know the odds of that happening are small, but if you're gonna dream dream big. You think Novak goes in there and tells his team they don't have the potential to beat everyone on their schedule? Of course not, that's not the mentality a player should have or the coaches should convey to their players. I understand that some people on this board have already said that there is no way we can beat Ohio State, but i think you guys underestimate NIU as well. Nobody thought George Mason would have made it to the Final Four, but look what they are doing. They've beat the past 3 NC to make it this far. Upsets are possible, nobody thought NIU would beat Alabama, Maryland, and Iowa State.
Here's to the Mid-Majors and
Here's to NIU...GO HUSKIES!

Spring look around the Big Ten
[quote]The Buckeyes start spring drills this week with one of their two returning defensive starters, defensive tackle Quinn Pitcock, out of the early workouts with an injury Ohio State won't disclose.

Sorry to keep disagreeing with you BUT I disagree. Alabama was HUGE in terms of recruiting in the south. Many/most kids from Ohio likely have heard of us because Ohio is the MAC. Not everyone in the south has. It opens up opportunities we may never have had.

Honestly, excuses are just that...excuses. I don't care what they say if we beat them. NIU could have some excuses as well. We lost the middle of our offensive line. We lost some men from the defensive line and backfield. We lost our #1 and #2 receivers to graduation....with one being our leading receiver in yards and TD's and the other one being our punt returner. I want them to only return 1 starter on defense.

Ridiculous.
Supply & demand... It's capitalism. We should be so lucky to command $50.00 a ticket at Huskie stadium.

I agree but the press sees it differently. Also, you are comparing apples and oranges. I was talking about injuries to their team this year. You are talking about players we lost due to graduation.
