This is one of the best answers I have heard Wright Waters ever give.
Question (Chris Morris): Soon the Sun Belt will have its newest all-sports member (presumably ULM). What's next for the conference after the eighth all-sports member is in place? Where does the conference go from here? What is your future vision for the Sun Belt Conference?
Commissioner Wright Waters: We focus on changing the perception. This league is one of eleven IA leagues, one of thirty-one conferences; we very clearly compete in the top third of Division I in all sports. We now must get out and tell our story; in this regard we need your help. Don't be shy about promoting the league and your school. There is good news everywhere and if we are not proud of our schools and conference how can we expect others to be proud of it.

I agree with you Swamp......I said the same thing when I read that yesterday. And with the continued involvement of Wright Waters in trying to get our name (SBC) out there, he is a very enviable commish who will do our conference well :D

I was proud to see my question answered.
Question (Stephen West): Last month you responded to a FAU fan writer that: "in 2005 FAU and FIU will compete for bowl spots and with three new bowls possibly on line, I would suspect a team that is 6-5 or better and has a good season ticket base will have opportunities." Are the three bowls you referred to the proposals from Seattle, Denver and South Florida before the NCAA Football certification subcommittee? And is the potential primarily due to the potential lack of bowl eligible teams or because of a new potential bowl tie in for the Sun Belt?
Commissioner Wright Waters: Stephen, you are correct and I think the answer to your last question is both. No sane person would start a bowl without a conference tie, but not all conferences are going to be able to meet their obligations. A prime example was the Big XII last year.
