Torch,
Why would a Big East or ACC team give up a home game to play George Mason, right now ? For him to say his demands were not met was not because people feared GMU but because he had unreasonable demands for a program like GMU. I'm sure those teams he referred to would play him at their own place w/out a return game like every other smaller school. Look @ Bucknell, a similar program. They played a great schedule away and proved themself and they've actually won a NCAA game ( Arizona last year) unlike GMU..
Most MAC schools go 2 for 1 but he wanted straight up games, somewhat ridiculous demand. Also the problem w/most of the Big East is that most of them don't play football so this is the only revenue producing season.
George Mason got in because their AD was part of the committee (granted he wasn't there when they were discussed he held influence on the decision). The RPI's # 20 team, N. Arizona, was a much better selection than George Mason. Cincy got screwed s well. I'm all for the smaller schools getting in but there were better teams than his.
As for Billy Packer and his continued crusade for the ACC, GMU probably had better wins than Florida State who had 1 win and played a patsy schedule.
Its hard for me to state Air Force sholdn't have gotten in because I love the Academies but they probably shouldn't but that being said I'm rooting hard for them.
