Temple is a fading program in the A-10. They better move to the MAC before they turn into UMASS. Xavier, GW, St. Joseph's, and Charlotte are the big 4 now. Temple isn't the top dog over there anymore. Temple hasn't made the NCAA since 2001. That's a long time for a so called "national power". Temple could re-emerge as a power in the MAC and become an NCAA regular under their new coach.

I see Temple falling to the level of their football program post Chaney. Why did we let them in in Football? Ugh.

One could argue Temple has fallen due to Chaney hanging on too long. If they get even a decent coach, they will have a competitive team given all the hoops talent in Philly.

But the big question is whether they join the MAC over the next few months.

1000 fans in the stands for an NIT game. Pathetic Owls. If this games at Akron they sell out the JAR. NIT needs to pick teams that care about the tournament. Temple couldn't promote this game? If Ohio was in they would have had a huge crowd. Postseason is postseason for us MAC fans. Good job Akron Zips. A-10 must be in trouble if one of their most storied teams can only put 1000 butts in the seats for a postseason tournament. Temple football and basketball are MAC bound. Temple president should see this game as a sign that Temple needs a new home.

There is no way the JAR would have sold out for this game. A couple thousand maybe three if students care. When KSU played in the NIT the last two times, they had maybe 3,000 people each game. The one two years ago might have been more with West Virginia bringing a decent crowd including their pep band.

The average MAC fan cares just as less about the NIT as the average major school fan. The only factor for Akron could have been this breaking a postseason drought, but I still doubt it.

As for Miami-Butler, I don't feel the numbers suggest home court makes much difference in most NIT games. It would have been nice for Miami to have a home game, but they didn't. At least, they had one last year. OU would not have been able to host either. The Convocation Center is booked solid throughout the week.

That's funny that the Convo is booked. I guess we had other plans to play in some other tournament this week and never figured that NIT would be a possibility or we knew O'Shea would under achieve enough to keep us out of both tournaments and planned ahead. lmfao

The Convo is always booked nearly solid this week and last for high school tournaments. My guess is hosting OHSAA tournaments is more important to some people (everyone who makes money from Convo events) than one NIT game.

We (BUFFALO) had like 4000+ at last years NIT home game, which was actually small since we had been selling out. It was fun. we were actually supposed to HOST St Joes, who lost in the finals but like most places, our arena was booked.

You know, KStud, normally I'd agree with you, except remember Akron hasn't been in post-season play in over a decade. It's a Big Deal around here, even the NIT.

And as close as we are geographically, I know no one in Akron who attends your games. So what you would draw out there in the boonies is no measuring stick for Akron. Every situation is different. Certainly our population is different.

But your attendance is the same and usually worse. But I am not going to get in a flame war over it because I would like to see Akron win a few more.
