I was just thinking about this. It has been said many times in the past that a team is only as strong as its weakest link, so what do yall think is the weakest link of the team this year. Personally, I feel like the weak link could be Defensive line. In years past, I have felt that we had some areas that all needed addressing, but this year, I truly feel like we are as good or better than most of the sunbelt in alot of aspects except the D-Line. What do yall think?

I have to agree with you. Entering the season, D-line is the one place with a lot of "if's" and "?" How good will he JC transfers and incoming freshmen be? Will they contribute? Will one of them step up and suprise us? Will Marshall play DT as well as he did in the South Carolina game? Can Haynes stay healthy? Will this be the year that Kwarteng, will all his physical gifts, plays as well as we think he can? Will Bass show us the pass rushing skills (i.e. rack up the sacks) we all heard he was capable of? If all works out we could have a good line, if not our linebackers and safeties will have a longggg season. Bottom line, our defense HAS to step up this year.

Defense will have to step it up for us to win a lot of games this year. If they step it up we can win the Conference Championship.

It's all about defense this year guys. I truly hope that the defense comes together and can stay healthy. I want to see this defensive line/linebackers stop the run this year. I also want to see us get to the quarterback more than we have in the past few years. I want our cornerbacks and safeties stick to their man like glue and not give up big pass plays. I think the offense will come together come August and show us alot this year.

That's one of the things that killed me last season, was watching the defense giving up big plays. They definitely have to stop the run. I think the new speed in the defense will account for some of the big play issue. But of course the experience comes into play.

I agree with the rest of you that the defense is the weakest link on this team, especially the d-line. I think there is alot of potential at the end postion. Kwarteng is a physical specimen who was very disappointing a year ago. Bass has nice speed, if these guys falter I think freshman Elijah Nelson and Somphmore Joe Bradley will be waiting in the wings to take both of there spots. But the key I definitely believe to this years defense will be if Lamar Morgan is able to play this year. I thought when Morgan started at FS versus New Mexico st. and Idaho I thought the defense ran much much well, compared to when David Prather played at anytime last year.

I had doubts about Morgan playing this year but it seems I heard or read recently that he was working out. However it was worded it suprised me and seemed to indicate that he may play this season. You are correct, he is a hell of a free safety and the team played well whe he was in there.

It seems like the CAJUNS really missed out on a great recruit in Tyler Benoit who scored 4 (four) touchdowns in the allstar game. I had been saying for two years that we needed him on our team really bad. Boy, would he made a difference in the offense for four years.

It wasn't our fault. We wanted him. He wanted to wait with all of the "Big" schools courting him. West Virginia was the only one that offerred. He still doesn't have grades. alledgedly.

I would be suprised if he ever played a down for West Virginia.
