What do you guys think will be your strong areas this season? (i.e. rushing? pass defense?) and weak areas?

I stole this from Crump1 from the TribalGrounds board. A pretty good summary of the team this year compared to last.

THrowing out difficulty of schedule, I believe we will be better this year and significantly better in 2005. The following are my assessments of each part of this year's team. Feel free to add to or disagree.

QB= Upgrade. THis is kind of contingent on the OL, but I see no way we can be anything but better at this position. Even if Noce and Hollins never take a snap (not likely) Jacobs is a year older with a more experienced line and a lot of veteran receivers. If Hollins is ready we could be astronomically better.

RB= Slight upgrade. Everyone back except Easley (will be back next year) and a more experienced OL (sensing a theme?). Bracey is the big play guy, Warren is multi-purpose, and Roy is a bruiser. The FBs both return as well.

WR= ???? Losing our best WR hurt, but we have several new players that should contribute along with 3 veterans in Stegall, Wood, and Walker. I am not ready to make a call here, but they should be at least as good.

OL= Big upgrade. Even if Slaughter cannot go, Jenkins is solid and everyone else played at least some last year. Last year was a tough year for the OL with so many new faces and this year the chemistry should make the offense better at every position.

TE= Push. Both guys return and are experienced, but not really big play guys.

DL= Downgrade slightly. Had Bradley and Williams been healthy last year this would be a big downgrade area. Rollins, Thomas, James, Najm, Anderson, Todd, Abby, Hickman, Burleson, and McNeely (maybe Gill) gives us a lot of options and surely we can find a solid starting 4 there.

LB= Push. Echols was a big time loss, but Tookes seems ready to fill his shoes. Walker has tons of experience to help the heralded newcomers Williams and Ellis. Pretty good potential there.

CB= Downgrade. Burke was the best player on the defense last year and Lee is gone as well (although he was out of position). Coxwas highly regarded as a transfer and Harrison should be a big time player one day. Add Chris Jones and Charles Johnson and we are still thin. Hopefully some of the enwcomers like Williams and Toney can help.

S= Upgrade. If Johnson and Burns beat out Littleton and Adams then they must be for real. Peoples is incredible and McKinnon as a FR could be a big hitter.

P= Upgrade. Little was solid last year and is a year older.

K= Push. Neihouse still has a good leg, but he needs to be more consistent.

I am hoping that Devin Hollins will come along quickly as our starting QB and our offense will allow us to win a few games that we are not projected to win this Fall. I saw one prognostication that has us at zero wins; no way that will that happen!!!
