Let the madness begin...
A daily update of first round MAC tourney matchups will be available here. Could Buffalo be the best number 7 seed of all time?

=>Best #7 seed of all time may belong to the 1997-98 Miami RedHawks. Wally Szcerbiak broke his arm in the middle of the year that resulted in Miami going on a 3-5 MAC slump. Wally comes back after those 8 games. Miami ends up 9-9 in the MAC and a tie for 2nd in the MAC East. Miami gets the #7 seed and beats #2 seed WMU on the road in the MAC quarterfinals. Miami goes on to lose to EMU in the MAC title game. WMU ends up with an NCAA at-large invite.

Had Wally not gone down with an injury, Miami likely goes 6-2 at worst during that span and finishes with a 12-6 MAC record.

The following year, with basically the same personnel (+ Rob Mestas at PG), Miami goes to the NCAA Sweet 16.

yeah, as of right now, I'd take last years #7 team over this years. Last year we had the solid 9 man rotation built for the tournament. This year it seems we're hard presses to find a quality 7 deep rotation

Injuries have a major impact. Ohio has Green and Halbert banged up right now. Having your two best outside shooters not at 100% hurts when teams play a zone. Teams are gambling that Ohio can't make the three ball by playing zone. That zone suffocates Leon Williams and he can't get his paws on the ball. If Green start to feel it, that zone is useless against Ohio. Teams will switch to man to man, but Fears, Troutman, and Williams will kill that. How healthy Green's knee in March makes a huge difference with Ohio.

Depth is a huge impact to. Miami and UB have a short bench. While Ohio and Kent are deeper. Akron has some depth to, but lost Wood and Walther. As the games get more intense, depth will become a bigger issue.
