New Dean of the College of Business
Denise Schoenbachler has been named as the new Dean of the College of Business. I think this is an excellent move by the administration at NIU. I know she'll do a great job!

Read the article, her experience raising funds is right there.

Very nice woman in the times that I have spoken with her. She will do a great job.

So, that's my new boss...interesting.

Actually, I'll be more under the scrutiny of the Chair for our department, but she will set the tone for the college. I hope this is a good move.

When I interviewd last fall, I knew they were in the process of searching for a dean. That was the only reluctance I had about accepting the position. I met with the Interim Dean, Bill Tallon, and he was upfront about the situation. At the time, he said they were going through a national search process--I had the feeling they were looking for a big name to get the college some national recognition, but it looks like they stayed close to home.

I'm coming up in early March to take care of some moving related issues and new home decisions, so maybe I'll get a chance to meet her.

It seems as though she did a lot for the Department of Marketing and it is a safe choice. Here's to hoping she can do the same for the entire business school.

One thing that I like is she has been around for a while and will recall those days in Wirtz & McMurry Halls. While not a big name from elsewhere, either was our friend Joe Novak 10 short years ago. What happened with the 1st round of interviews, they decided not to go with any of the finalists? That is fine with me as the business school is one of, if not the most successful colleges at NIU so you don't want to mess up that choice. (With the accounting program at the top :)

Anyone recall what Dean Graf did before being Dean, as in what college dept. he was in?

I believe he was chair of OMIS but I am only about 99% certain of that myself :-)

New Dean
David Graf was the Chair of OMIS. Denise is outstanding and will do a great job. I met one of the other candidates - a guy from DePaul who was fairly lame.

Go Huskies!!!!!!!
