I'm assuming that he'll be the go to guy this year. Will the passing game be formidable enough to get Jason enough touches? Is he even Troy's #1 WR?

Do you think Leak will be the starter at QB?

I'll do my best to 'tackle' these questions.
Jason Samples has improved every year. Last year I saw him drop a ball or two, but then he would get over it and start making big catches. And I do remember him making some important catches last year against some good teams, including one that set the tone for the Marshall game. So, in short, yes, he'll be the first one that Aaron Leak looks for this year.
As for Aaron Leak himself, yes, he will be the starter at QB. But to me and I think for most Troy fans that only means he will take the first snap in the first game. Nothing else is guaranteed. We have a transfer from East Tennessee we will have to look to if Leak can't get the job done. We have a I-A transfer (from Miami, I think) but of course he is not eligible this year. There is a rumor (and it is *only* a rumor) that D.T. McDowell may be considering leaving baseball and showing up in Troy for camp. If he shows up it will put a lot of heat on Leak to improve.
Hope that helps.
GO TROJANS!

I would like to see Samples show some big-time improvement this year. He is a good athlete, but he is not the best receiver on the field. He can make a great catch, but he seems to some easy ones. He is rather slow also. In the media guide I saw last year, I don't think he finished in the top 10 in 40-yard dash times, meaning that he might only have 4.6 or slower speed to go along with his 5' 11" or so heighth. I don't think he does a whole lot with it after the catch. He is more of an average wide receiver. I would expect to see a better one emerge soon.
There are too many 6'2"-4" guys that run 4.4's and have good hands out there. Most of the corners we see are taller and quicker than our WR's. I hope that we get some development in this position.
