lmfao

He MAY get an invite to camp?

Warrick Dunn is only slightly bigger and he's been in the NFL a long time. He doesn't carry the ball every down either, but he gets a lot of carries.

The odds of Garrett Wolfe making the NFL are slim. College football is littered with guys of his physical makeup and gifts that never got a whiff of the NFL. Wolfe shares little in common with Warrick Dunn if you tear apart each player's game. Plus Dunn is bigger. A.J. Harris is a much better pro prospect, and even in his case it is a long-shot.

Wolfe is definitely a better pro prospect than AJ at this point (I don't consider AJ a prospect, despite his size/speed. Wolfe has to show he can remain fairly healthy. On the other hand, many of the bigger RBs get injured too. And, in the NFL he wouldn't be asked to carry the ball 35 times per game like he does at NIU. P.J. Fleck made the NFL, despite not having NFL size or speed. Cieslak was signed to a contract. The NFL will find a spot for Wolfe on a team, even if he doesn't get that much playing time.

Garrett Wolfe won't make an NFL roster, but you are entitled to your opinion.

:iagree:

Wolfe will be at the latest a 4th round pick next year, which means he will automatically be on a roster.

First of all, you're dreaming.
Secondly, how do you figure that guarantees he will automatically be on a roster?

No I am not dreaming, and not many 4th round picks are cut.

But they're not automatic, as you stated.

Agreed. Nothing better than quoting 10 responses in a thread, when you're only replying to one or two of them. If I was a mod...

Only one name to mention here...Darren Sproles.
Smaller than GW at 5-6" and 181 lbs. Sproles was drafted in the fourth round after having a subpar senior year.

The only difference here is that GW does not return kicks, Sproles did.

Garrett Wolfe will not be drafted and stands less than 50-50 chance of getting an NFL camp invite. The fact that he is not NFL material takes zero away from him being an exceptional collegiate back for a mid-major program. But the physical stature and make-up simply isn't there for the NFL to be a reasonable aspiration. And yes, A.J. Harris is a better NFL prospect than Wolfe. Will Harris get an invite to an NFL camp? Probably yes.

If scouts think that AJ is a better pro prospect than Wolfe, than they haven't seen both of them play. Certainly, AJ has the size/speed combo, however, he doesn't have the cutting ability, tackle-breaking ability, or field vision to play in the NFL. The scouts would be fooling themselves. And that's not a knock on AJ - he's a good college player, and I'm not sure we've seen the best of what he can do.

I bet Wolfe would be good at returning kickoffs, not sure about punts though. And he would be small for playing on special teams. But I find it hard to believe he wouldn't at least make a team for a while, like Sproles. Admittedly, I'm biased because Wolfe is fun to watch and I want to see him play on Sundays. But unlike most small players, Wolfe is not only quick but fast, and stronger than most players his size. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I would have agreed with you before Sproles was drafted and made an instant impact in the NFL.

GW has impressed agasint top competition and if he can have the same kind of year next year, I would not be at all surprised to see him drafted.

I agree with you and feel that Wolfe will get drafted. But, I don't think it will be until atleast late 6th and even deep into round 7. He doesn't have the build to do much in the NFL except maybe be a kick and punt returner. A NFL team my get a look @ his speed and give him a shot on a return team, but there is no way he'll ever be in the backfield for a NFL team.
