Ohio Beats BGSU 93-90 in 2OT
It was ugly. Ohio blows a 13 point lead with 4 minutes to go.

BG player loses track of situation and fouls Chatman. Missed lay up and Jackson hit two free throws for the final tally.

Winning at AA for Ohio is like beating Muhammed Ali. So I'll take it.

But man was it ugly.

Career high 19 pts for Tony Chatman. Sonny Troutman had a big game. Jeremy Fears knocked down three treys. A double-double for Leon Williams.

Mychal Green is hurt. He needs to sit for a few games. That knee is killling him.

See you guys this week! Now if we can continue your struggles and go
2-0 against the flagship, I will be very happy. Unfortunately you will probably get hot and we go cold. 03-weeping

it may have been an ugly game relative to how it was played, but it was the most beautiful win i've seen at Ohio in some time. why do i say that? because this is a team with a fragile ego right now, and if this team had blown a 13 point lead late in the game and lost, the guys very well could have tanked the rest of the season. BUT...a win like this (ugly as it was) could be the spark that this team has been searching for. along the way of an 18-game schedule you have to gut out wins and especially on the road. this one was huge for us. HUGE, i say! ;-)

now...it won't mean CRAP if we come home on thursday and lose to Northern Illinois, which by the way blew out WMU today. so we need to build on this and start that big MO coming our way again.

Remember how we were blown out by Akron last year and then gutted out a huge win on the road against Detroit and then proceeded to win all of our remaining games, save for two. Might it be happening again? we'll see!

GO OHIO! BEAT THE HUSKIES!

Ohio now 7-4 and holds the 5th seed for now. That is a big seed as that is a home game vs either CMU or EMU at this point. BGSU slides to 4-7 and WMU falls to 6-5 today. WMU holds the 6th spot right now. UB vs Miami tonite is a must win for UB.

As someone said on AZZ:

BG has lost five MAC games by a combined 13 points. Unbelievable. We lost to Northern Illinois by 1, Ball State by 1, Buffalo by 3, Ohio by 3 in double overtime and to Akron by 5 in overtime. As we sit here today at 4-7, it pains me to know we could be 9-2 or somewhere in between if we could have won any of these heartbreakers.

03-yawn

We could have been 17-3(10-2) if we would have won the games below and would have still had a reasonable shot at at least an at-large.
NIU close losses:

Sat, Dec 17 at Ill. Chicago L 54-55 -- --
Fri, Dec 30 North Dakota St L 56-57 -- --
Tue, Jan 3 Miami (OH) L 56-58 -- --
Tue, Jan 24 Toledo L 66-67 -- --

Coulda, shoulda but didn't.

Every time I look BG seems to lose by 3. Very frustrating for these kids, I'm sure. This wasn't expected to be a good year for BG...but Dakich has them playing hard.
