The only way we get to post season now is to win the MAC. After watching Ohio tonight and noticing that despite the record, Miami is pretty darn good too so I think we will be sitting home come March Madness. I suppose an NIT spot still has a flicker of hope but that too is a long shot. We need ND State to stay on fire and play really well and end up with a good record for the NIT bid.

North Dakota St is a good basketball team. Its a tough loss but not a bad loss.

"This is so NIU", some of the same people who claim to support this team through and through are the same ones to turn their backs and bash NIU teams when everything is not perfect. I guess then the fashionable thing is to root for the Illini. Im so sick of our type of fan, that type of fan is what is "so NIU"

ummmmmmm ya... all g was pointing out was a frequent pattern in huskie athletics this year in 2005. Is there anything wrong with stating facts?

G-force is one of the ideal huskie fans give me a BREAK!

Do you have any idea what the hell you are talking about? I was one of the few people to have NIUs back after the 1st Akron loss. Rememebr my "believe" thingy. That was after the Ball State loss! Don't call me "that type" of fan. Don't ever call me that type of fan, that is just not true.

I will be at the Miami game yelling my lungs out. If we lose, I will be at the next game and the next game and the next game. Don't call me a bandwagon fan. The fact of the matter is, "That is so NIU." We have lost 4 games by 1 point this year! 4! And when this basketball team gives me a reason to believe, I will believe.

Im sorry G, I wasnt talking about you,I just get really frustrated that people love to jump on coaches/players after one loss. Its like these people are just waiting in the weeds for negative things, and then when they happen, they come out. It just seems like we have alot of those type of fans. I know you go to every home game and you are probably the most diehard fan in here. I see how my comment could have been misunderstood. Sorry about that.

This is a marathon Robert. One loss does not make or break you, especially vs a quality opponent like NDSU, they are an up and coming team. There is plenty of opportunity to get an at large still. We have to finish 14-4 in the last 18 for this to happen, or there abouts. By no means are we out of the at-large hope yet.

hmmm i know what you mean. i think this is part of the reason why football season board attendance is much higher! very annoying indeed. best thing to do is to just ignore them, however they do give us a bad rep... nothing really u can do...

I wouldn't say I am the most die hard fan. 38 goes to every game too, and God Justin owns 3 different Huskie modes of transportation. All I was trying to say is that I am not a bandwagon fan, but I do agree with you that some people do lay in the weeds until something bad happens.

I am pissed at Todd Peterson right now.

It's not one time; I said after their win against K-State; they don't close out games. Go look back at the posts, I think most everyone could see that, Dynovil (spell-check?) said the same thing: they don't learn from their mistakes. It's a Judson trademark.

P.S. I'd like to make a point im not a bandwagon fan, but sometimes you have to call a team / coach out when its obvious they aren't getting the job done. I'll still be attending all home games as I always do.

I agree with G's original post.

Championship teams don't struggle against the likes of San Jose and North Dakota State.

In the MAC tourney we will be playing three games in three nights against much better compettion that what we faced in Montana.

No more excuses.

North Dakota State is a .500 team (after beating NIU) and only recently moved up to D 1. Do not tell me that this loss is not something to be concerned about. I am a rabid NIU fan but will not continue to listen to excuses for not being able to beat teams like this. This was an embarrassing loss.

Ditto for me but this season must be the breakout season for this coaching staff. Tell me how in the hell someone can recruit better talent to North Dakota for god sake than NIU can from Chicago. Is it coaching maybe????
You tell me but I am becoming one frustrated Huskie fan.

They beat EMU by 20+, lost to Big 10 Minnesota by 13, lost by 5 to W-Greenbay, lost to Drake by 1(who beat Detroit by 8, go look how many MAC teams have played Detroit close or lost to them, who lost to #10 BC by 3, Iowa by 5). ND STATE ISN'T BAD.

As for your second post about coach, I would have to agree, ND isn't going to be a top destination to play(obviously DeKalb isn't either) so it is something other than that.

The only way we get to post season now is to win the MAC. I suppose an NIT spot still has a flicker of hope but that too is a long shot. We need ND State to stay on fire and play really well and end up with a good record for the NIT bid.

If we go 14-4 from here on out, that would make us 20-7 come tourney time. That would be a fine record - something for NIU fans to be proud of and build upon.

Just imagine what NIU basketball would be like if we could put a string of 5 strong years together... 20-7 records (or thereabouts), two MAC championships and 4 NCAA tourney appearances - getting past the first round in two of them. That would be my pipe dream. 02-13-banana How cool would that be?

It's all about the NCAA tourney. Getting there as a Mid-Major does HUGE things for exposure and recruiting.

Last year NIU lost alot more close games than it won.
This year off season conditioning , chemistry and experience returning were the keys to finishing strong and winning close games.
Huskies appear no closer this year to being a finisher in close games against teams which appear to be equal or lesser opponents.
