Well, i had mixed feelings about today's scrimmage. We had a couple of big plays on both sides of the ball. I would have like to have seen more execution, but all I can expect is better things down the road. It seemed to me as if the offense had quite a few miscues. They had a couple chances to make big passes down the field but they were overthrown. I think the QB's need a little more work. Like I said, I had mixed feelings about today's scrimmage. Sept.4 is coming fast, and they'll be more than ready to pound on someone else. Poor Northwestern.

Scrimmage #1
Wednesday, August 18, 2004
Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns worked through their first scrimmage of the fall on Wednesday afternoon at Cajun Field. Head coach Rickey Bustle’s club saw 104 snaps, of which 20 were dedicated to special teams.
The outcome was pleasing to both sides, although both the offense and defense showed some inconsistencies. Mental errors, offside penalties, bad snaps, missed tackles and dropped passes littered the scrimmage nearly as frequently as good blocks, quick runs, sharp passes and hard hits.
“One of the best things that I saw today was that the players knew where to line up every play,

I liked the hustle the team showed. It was pretty damn hot out there. Whoever said the team was not in shape was mistaken. Players who stood out (IMHO) today: WR Jordan Jackson, RB Chester Johnson, TE Xavier Campbell, WR #82 (believe it was Givens), DE #96 (not sure if this was Hardaway or Bradley) DE #97 (same thing), and CB Mike Adams. I thought all of the QB's looked good and was pretty impressed with the freshman Desormeaux. He has a lot of natural talent to play QB. He is not real polished at this point but the talent is there. Sniewski is much more mobile than he was during the spring when his ankle was bothering him. LT/LG Justin Ernest injured his knee, had ice on it, not sure how bad it was but he was still walking which is a good sign. Among the players not participating in practice due to injury: RB's Dwight Lindon, Caleb Rubin and Abdule Levier and WR B.J. Crist. Not sure but I also believe that freshman TE Erik Jones was wearing a black shirt and shorts. WR Bill Sampy seemed to be limping a little but still practiced. DT Travis Ferguson has slimmed down and looks in very good shape.

when are we going to get an updated roster? I got the media guide which at first I thought was well done, but now, I see there are a lot of players missing, and a lot of players in there that have left the team.

It sure would be nice to have one now but I would expect one to be posted on ragincajuns.com close to the beginning of the season. The coaches want to determine who will be on the taveling squad, who will be redshirted etc...so hopefully soon.
