Ok so one scenario that sets itself up after last night, and could possibly pan out.

BG looses to Toledo (I think even BG fans will admit they have the toughest game out of the 3 East competitors to close the season)
Miami beats OU
Zips beat Kent

This sets up a three way tie at the top of the MAC East with:
Miami holding the tiebreaker over Akron
Akron holding the tiebreaker over BG
BG holding the tiebreaker over Miami

If I am thinking right that all negates out. Now there has been some talk that NIU games then somehow become the tie breaker. In that scenario the Zips win as they are the only one with a win over NIU. I don't see how this is the next tie breaker, but I'm not really sure. Does anyone know for sure what it goes to next?

That wouldn't really make sense with NIU as the tie breaker, because we didnt even play BGSU this year.

It was my understanding that crossover games would be the tiebreaker.

If so ...

Miami is 1-2
Akron is 1-2
BG would be 1-2 in your scenario

Huh. Guess that didn't help much. 03-banghead

I'm guessing they would send WMU to the MACC then. I'm sure some of those Bronco fans could find a way to make it work.

By the way, do you have your 'Bronco Underwear' on? You know, yellow in the front, brown in the back.

Please find and post the MAC by-law that states that the conference is bound, by contract, to find a bowl for the MACC loser. Upon doing this, all us Bronco fans will then cease pondering about our own bowl possibilities (as slim as they are) immediately.

Motown:

If you know anything about the way the conference office is run, you know that there's little if anything that is codified! 03-lol

If I were a WMU fan, I'd be thinking the way you guys are thinking. Why not keep hope alive, right? Of course, I'm a BG fan and I'm hoping we render this discussion moot by thumping Toledo to gain entrance to the MACC game, then thumping them again to claim the MAC crown.

In the meantime, carry on, because you're speculation is correct - if the bowl committee wants a team other than a division winner, it will get the team it wants.

Thanks BGSU1987.

You're right. Even though it's a long shot for us, it is fun to think about and have hope.

I'm already pleased with our good season and young squad. They exceeded all expectations. So I'm not going to be broken up if we lose to NIU, or don't go to anywhere in the post-season if we happen to beat NIU. As usual, I'll just root hard for whoever the MAC reps are.
