Can get get rocketfootball and Huskie Dan to start posting in all the post-BG debacle threads?
Glad we could help.
RF,
BTW, the streak is not that impressive anyway. Most of the wins came in years when everybody else was beating us too. Of the last 4 years, when the team has been pretty good, 2 of the games were at Toledo, where most other teams lose as well. We lost twice at home, but one of them was on a last second play that won the game. Hardly dominating.
There's another streak you are forgetting. NIU hasn't won in Toledo since 1972, which was your only win in Toledo. Are you telling me that all those years in the mid to late 70's (years that Toledo wasn't very good) and in the 80's were against NIU teams that weren't any good?
Since you have all the numbers, how many games in a row is it actually? NIU went on parole for a while playing New Mexico St., UNLV, Cal St. Fullerton, and other Midwest powers :( for a few of those years. The couple of years that I remember them being good were years when they were beating the likes of Southwest Louisiana and Arkansas St., attempting to become the next Notre Dame.
Now back to our regularly scheduled BG-bashing.
Your point? Are you saying that NIU has always sucked before the last few years?
Not beating Toledo at Toledo since 1972 sounds really bad. But for several years we were independent or in the Big West and so didn't play Toledo. Of the years we played Toledo, half of those were at Toledo. And yes, when we came back to the MAC we were terrible. It's only been the last 4 years that we've recovered. So the question again is, how many games in a row is it that NIU has lost at Toledo? I could look it up somewhere but something tells me Toledo fans have the number memorized.

I looked it up:
All-time Toledo leads the series 26-6, regardless of where the game was played.
Toledo is 16-1 at home against NIU and has won the last 14 games at home against NIU.
Toledo is 10-5 at NIU and has won the last 5 games at NIU.
Toledo has won 11 straight games against NIU, regardless of where the game was played.
Toledo is 8-2 when playing against a NIU team that finished the season with a winning record.
Anyway you cut it, it sounds really bad.

OK, I'm going to put in my 2 cents here.
I hadn't posted on this thread because I thought the title was unsporsmen like and in short: Bad Taste!
I am pumped for my Bronco's victory but I also know what it is like to lose one that you were sure was going to be a win.
I morned after our hard fought lost to Ball St. and the last thing I needed then was for someone to rub-it-in.

Have you ever noticed what and where a dog sniffs?
And licks, just because he can?

Well, at least 11 games isn't THAT bad. 14 in a row at Toledo sounds worse to me, though Toledo beats everybody else at home too. Winning the last 5 at NIU is probably the most annoying. But thanks for the info.

We had 7 winning seasons between 1968 & 1999. One was 10-2, one was 9-2, and the others were at best 7-4.
To answer your question, yes, except for one MAC title season and one lost Big West season.

Good luck with that, RR. I think you would have better luck steering an ore boat with a canoe paddle.
