I only tuned in for the first time during the 3rd quarter, but I can't imagine that there more than 8,000 folks at that game. Looks like S-Miss will hang on and win the game, pretty much eliminating UAB from chances at winning the division title. Folks on the C-USA board said that the crowd thinned out after halftime, though.

P.S. I see UCF beat Tulane.....those boyz from C-USA better watch out or the MAC's worst may quickly become C-USA East's best!

UAB has always had attendance problems, not sure why.

Secondly, I see where you're going with your last comment, but just wait a minute. :D Our team is much, much better than last year's.

If we run for 300 yards a game, we should win more often too.

Tonight we had 16,000. Not bad considering the game was moved at the last minute and it was raining.

500 more people and they would have topped your homecoming crowd last year 03-lol

FYI

The MARSHALL/UTEP game is sold out over 52,000

I listened to the anouncers say that UAB hadn't upgraded their facilities (football) since turning D-1 in '96. Wow, a whole 9 years. They haven't ever been Muncie, Indiana.

Does UAB have a football stadium? I thought they used or rented an off-campus stadium.

UAB doesnt have its own stadium.... they play off campus...Part of the stadium they use was condemmed and torn down... even after that it is way to big for them ...still seats 70k. makes crowds look even smaller then they are... They really need an on campus 35 k stadium... would get another 5k butts in the seats and 13 to 25 thousand would look much better in 35 k stadium.

It's called Legion Field. I saw Bowling Green play Alabama there in 1996.

It seemed pretty nice to me -- and I think they had been pumping money into it for the Atlanta Olympics. Some of the soccer games were held there, I think.

In any case, it's way too big for Alabama-Birmingham's present needs.

Funny. Most MAC schools would kill for the attendence UAB had yesterday. Just a tad over 31,000. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/boxscore?gid...id=200510210207
The problem is they play in a stadium that holds 70k or so....even at 31k it is still over 1/2 empty...looks really, really poor.

Even though it was raining and the game was moved up at the last minute, I am surprised attendance was so low. UCF did better than that with an 0-11 team last year.

There is no chance in hell that they had 31K there last night. None, zero, zip, nada.

I agree. If they had 31K in attendance than Temple is averaging 30K for the season.

They might have had 31K paid attendance, but not butts in the seats.

I see Akron has plenty of company when it comes to teams that play off campus. Besides UAB there's UCF, USF, UConn, Minnesota, Temple and probably a host of others I don't have time to think about.

31K???.......now that's a real whopper, forphase....did you happen to tune in for that game? I think 8,000 is being charitable, and even the more optimistic C-USA posters were guessing 16-18K.............in the 3rd quarter (and I admit I didn't see the first half when the stadium had more folks in it according to other posters) it was an absolute tomb....when the cameras swept the sidelines there wasn't one section even 1/3 filled in the middle of the field and the rest of the stadium was completely empty.

And yes, UTEP has great attendance, win or lose....I'm glad to see that they have a sell-out.
