After spending just a few months at MTSU, touted transfer Drew Schifino has left the Blue Raiders' basketball team in order to play immediately rather than sit out the upcoming season.
Due to NCAA transfer rule, Schifino could not play this season for MTSU after coming to the team from West Virginia in July.
"Drew came in and just said he couldn't sit out another whole year," said MTSU basketball coach Kermit Davis. "It was just the thought of not playing that he couldn't accept and live with."
Schifino will pursue a spot on a Division II or NAIA team, where he can play immediately without the one-year transfer penalty. Attempts to contact Schifino on the matter were unsuccessful.
