A turnaround in a football program takes a lot of time - usually 5-6 years before it's complete. Unfortunately, too many schools give a coach about 2 years and then he's out the door.

Great article. I have a lot of respect for him. A lesser man would have taken the opportunity to be D coordinator at LSU or ND, as he was offered, and ran after the first few years here. However, he has stayed and we have seen the results. He is a real asset to the university and the community from what I have seen.
Props to Laing Kennedy the AD who hired him. Mr. Kennedy has turned KSU sports around by hiring good coaches and good people. In b-ball the results can come faster with a smaller squad and Gary Waters did the same thing with that program. Dean Pees is now doing the same thing with f-ball and as long as they are competitive, he will remain for a long time.

Might be worthwhile to send an email of thanks to the author. I give him plenty of grief for not covering the MAC (he may ignore my messages now, I don't know) so the reverse might begin to convince TPTB that MAC coverage is worthwhile.
