Jimmi Gray ran 11 yards for a
touchdown with just under seven minutes remaining to cap a huge
fourth quarter as Akron rallied for a 35-29 victory over Navy.

Akron (6-2) trailed 29-13 entering the fourth quarter. But
Brandon Payne scored on a two-yard run 2:17 into the period and
Payne brought back a punt 66 yards for a score just over a
minute later. With two-point conversions after each touchdown,
the game was tied.

Gray, who rushed for 84 yards on seven carries, capped the
comeback and gave the Zips their fourth straight win with his TD
run with 6:46 to play.

Brian Broadwater hit Dave Rautenbach with a 56-yard TD pass and
connected with Brandon Rampani on 62-yard scoring strike in the
opening quarter to give Navy (2-5) a 16-0 lead. Broadwater, who
completed 6-of-16 passes for 183 yards, also scored on a
two-yard run early in the second period for a 23-point bulge.

James Washington found Lavel Bailey with a 41-yard TD pass and
Zac Derr kicked a 45-yard field goal in the second quarter for
the Zips before Tim Shubzda kicked a 29-yard field goal to give
the Midshipmen a 26-10 halftime lead.
