The game against Troy was a battle of the Ds and not an offensive show, but a great, thrilling game. The following is from the online Jonesboro Sun (http://www.jonesborosun.com):

Retro was in Saturday night at Indian Stadium.

Arkansas State and Troy waged an old-school slugfest for the Homecoming crowd, playing the type of game that the old warriors would have no problem recognizing. It was obvious from the outset that this wasn’t going to be a 4-hour offensive display like the Indians’ home opener against Memphis.

If points are your thing, this wasn’t your game.
But for those who can appreciate hard hits and big defensive plays, plus hard-pounding running backs, the Indians’ 13-9 victory over the Trojans wasn’t at all lacking. Perhaps it wasn’t perfect, but nobody was thinking about that in the home locker room when the fight song was belted out around 9:15 p.m.
