Simmons earns release

LAFAYETTE — Former Carencro High basketball star Kirstien Simmons may have loss a battle with Southeastern Louisiana University, but on Monday she won the war.

After being denied her request to be released from the National Letter of Intent through an appeal with the university, Simmons was then granted her release by the NLI Steering Committee.

LAFAYETTE — Teurlings Catholic Lady Rebels’ point guard Blair Brodhead has always liked a challenge.

With that said, it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that the three-time All-State selection has chosen to continue her basketball career with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns instead of taking her game to the Southeastern Conference.

I've watched Blair play a lot when I was a student at Teurlings and all I have to say is Coach Hall landed the most prized recruit in Lady Cajun basketball history. She will make this program 100x better than what it is right now. Where Anna leaves off, Blair will pick it up and make it better.
