Talk of booting football programs from the MAC is a long, time-honored tradition -- just like Bearcat football sucking and presidents Bush sabre-rattling.

Now its a game, too.

You can answer this question in either of two ways:

1. Which program would you MOST like to kick out of the MAC right now?

or

2. Which program would you would LEAST mind seeing disappear from the MAC (in the event, for instance, of an inability to meet NCAA attendance standards)?

I'll tally up the votes and pronounce a winner sometime next week -- either when the thread goes cold or by a deadline to be announced later.

I anticipate I'll keep asking the question until we can work the MAC down to a nice, tight, eight-team league.

Who will be in that slimmed down MAC? Keep an eye out for updates and new polls.

Let me anticipate a couple of questions:

1. Do you mean kicked out of the league for just football or for all sports?

I'll leave that open to interpretation. Football is clearly the issue here. But answer the question either way you like.

2. Why did you only offer ten choices?

That's all this bulletin board system allows. I left off four of the oldest members of the league -- schools that rarely come up in MAC contraction threads. They will be added to future polls as space allows.

Now go vote! And feel free to post thoughts in this thread.

What about teams that are likely to get offers from the Big East? Does that count?

Easy choice. See section 472 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended.

Note: Hatching this thread does not constitute an endorsement of kicking anyone out of the MAC. I'm tired of those threads and hoping -- in what will be a futile effort, I am sure -- to try to put it to rest.

Also, I'm going to personally break any ties. I'm not voting.

Even a Flacon knows that no one in their right mind would vote to get rid of Toledo or Miami. :D

As I said above, polls can have only 10 lines with this software. So I had to leave out four teams. I picked four of the oldest.

I'm adding Toledo to the list at my first opportunity.

I thought they'd finally been kicked out and I just hadn't heard.

I'm sticking a fork in this thread tonight and declaring a loser. Get your votes in if you haven't.

Will Eastern Michigan be thrown out of the conference for winning exactly one football title in 27 years?

Will people give up hope on the Buffalo experiment?

Or will people decide Central Florida is geographically expendable and entirely too mouthy?

An announcement will come tonight. :D
