Before this year, I thought that we should stay with what we have and hope that the slow building process was going to work. I have changed my mind. When I here the coach in the pregaime radio show say that we are playing a good team in UConn but we are also a good team, it further confirmed that Pees does not know pee from pea. Even sadder is the fact that the AD is completly backing this staff. It show that he does not know what he is watching. (however, he does know field hockey) In my 30 years of backing KSU football, I have watched 2 successful new coaches come in and they both had the same plan. It was NOT to build slowly. I was to turn it around NOW. They both lost during their 1st year but won the second year. (Look at Urban Meyer at BG) I am convinced that is a new coach does not win in football in 2 years coming into a weak, losing program, he is not going to do it in 5 years Come on Laing Kennedy, get a football education and stop administering the complete demise of KSU football. 03-banghead

I'm shocked at how this team has fallen apart.
I can accept the buckeye drubbing reasonably well, but to get completely blown out by teams like the Bobs and UConn, both of whom are the mediocre dregs of DIV. I football, which is slightly better than the absolute scum sucking dregs of DI football of which we and AKron and Buffalo and EMU are part. :crying:
It's been going on too long, through too many coaches.
I'd jump on the fire the coach bandwagon but I've got a bum shoulder from falling off it a few year agos and a gimpy knee doing the same thing in the 80's. Doesn't seem to matter, which makes me think the problem is a head higher than the head coach.
But we have a helluva basketball program, which is great because I like b-ball better anyway. And golf. Let's not forget how dominant we are in both golf programs. And the field hockey. And the.... 04-drinky 04-drinky 04-drinky :snore:

A few points here:

1. Except for a few stars, KSU football is only able to get the bottom of the barrel. No one wants to come here. There is no tradition, no fans, no anything...

2.That being said even the players acknowledge that it is not the coaching staff. They are NOT executing the game plan. For explanation see #1. From the BJ today:

``It's not the coaching,'' Polk said (BU QB) ``We're just not executing.''

It's not Pees. I'm not sure anyone could be successful at KSU now. It is a coaching graveyard and any young coach knows that. Pees is stuck here as long as he wants to.

3. Injuries have decimated this team. 23 starters have missed time this year. They don't have the depth to sustain losses to stars. David Alston hasn't been healthy all year. After the losing started, old habits broke through. It also doesn't help that "team leaders" still get suspended for rules violations. Hard to win with that.

4. Joshua Cribbs just might want to transfer. Why stay here? Get pounded for the next two years and not win. He appears frustrated and is pressing because THERE IS NO ONE WHO CAN HELP HIM. Why not go to YSU or an east coast 1-AA and play in the playoffs?

4. Laing Kennedy came from where... the IVY LEAGUE. What does he know about big time football? Other MAC schools get their ADs from large athletic programs and are agressive. Mr. Kennedy fits Dr. Cartwright's vision for a PC, Title IX overall program. (Witness the termination of mens' hockey and gymnastics for women's soccer and golf, ooooh) B-ball was a stroke of luck with a hard working group of solid young men and a solid coach (Waters). The admin would rather win the Reese and Jacoby trophies and finish in the top 75 of the Sears Cup than win at football. Unfortunatley, in society, a school, particularly in Ohio, is judged on football not overall sports trophies. Look for the f-ball program to move to D-1AA in 2005.

Thanks for the vent...I feel a little better now.
