What was the official attendance tonight?

P.S. Saw a couple posts about the MCB bowl berth.........did they in fact make UT the "offer" right after the game?

Aw hell, your boys sure took us to the woodshed in the second half didn't they?

We got hosed on the spot on the fake punt, but I don't think that a first down there would have changed much. We've had trouble stopping the run all year. You take a big OLine like yours, throw in some two tight end sets, and it's gonna be hard for our 210lb OLB's to handle.

Your QB did a hell of a job also. Our inability to contain him on those third and longs was a HUGE factor in this game.

As this past month has shown, BG football isn't back, but we're definitely on the way back. Good luck against the Herd, I'm thinking you'll make it two in a row!!!

We'll see you boys at the Doyt next year. I'm going to up my use of aeresol cans commencing immediately. In the words of Drew Carey, "screw the grandkids, I'm cold NOW" If we're going to play this game every November, we're going to need some global warming! 04-cheers

Not sure if Oddball has the official number or not, but they announced it at 25K and some change.

Thanks for the info, RocketFootball....no doubt the boyz in charge of the MCB are "breathing a sigh of relief" tonight as they can now count on the 20K plus that the Rockets will bring to Ford Field. Now, if they can only find you guys a "decent" opponent....Oklahoma State would be nice.

As of 12:18 a.m., still no official attendance numbers. Perhaps the Rockettes have recalled their attendance counters from last year? <EG> Still, I'm sure it far eclipsed the vaunted Golden Kaniggits (sp?) with a stellar attendance of 12,462. BTW, does 12k look as empty in that stadium as 10,000 (sic) looks in the Rubber bowl? (Sorry. Couldn't resist one last jab at our new brethern).

P.S. Get ready. The Herd's "D" is young and we may see a repeat of the 1999 defense next year. If so, y'all in fo another "L" to the MAC daddy. (Admittedly, O Line and secondary will be somewhat new but they will be tested by Tennessee and LSU prior to conference play).

Flipper, you very well may have been hosed by that spot...and a couple of other calls, as well. Toledo got hosed by a number of calls, too. The MAC officials were their usual selves. Tons of missed holding calls, along with phantom calls. However, I don't believe that any of the bad calls had an effect on the outcome. This time, at least.

Great effort by your team. Congrats on a nice season.

MAKO, given (how empty) the Herd's stadium looked on TV I didn't think any Herd fans would be out today giving grief to the Rockettes about their attendance last night.

Actually, having 23K plus for a meaningless game against BSU in the cold was pretty good, which again leads me to wonder why in the world Rick Chryst and the MAC officials would want that game to be nationally televised when you had a BG-UT option with what would obviously be a SO or near SO game that actually meant something. Also, it was predictable that Marshall would win easily, thus sending many chilled fans home early so we had to look at 20K empty seats in the 2nd half. Just a goofy decision if you ask me.

I will.

Do you really think that 14 yards per game makes a difference? Both teams are giving up exactly 23.2 points per game so the case could be made that both defenses are equal.

Of course I like some of the important stats, don't matter if they are offense, defense, or special teams:

Scoring Defense
TOLEDO 23.2
Marshall 23.2

Turnover Margin
TOLEDO +.67
Marshall -.73

Some interesting numbers:

Team Average Return Yards per Punt
TOLEDO 15.25 (9th out of 117 I-A Teams)
Marshall 5.05 (115th out of 117 I-A Teams)

UT Rushing Offense vs Marshall Rushing Defense:
TOLEDO 223.42 (12th in the Nation)
Marshall 179.1 (91st in the Nation)

Scoring Offense:
TOLEDO 35.42 (13th in the Nation)
Marshall 33.64 (16th in the Nation)

Offensive Touchdowns:
TOLEDO 57
Marshall 47

Just some interesting figures. Of course none of that means a thing when the game is played! 03-wink
