Success in longevity is harder to do than in a short period.

Yup, playing a long time and winning, too! (actually, some of these programs like CMU have only been DI or DIA since 1975 or so...they were the DII national champ.......there was no DIAA then.... their last year at that level before joining the MAC).

Here's the bottom of the list calculated from 1869 - 2003 from the Stassen historical website. There are some MAC notables, including my alma mater at the bottom as expected. No wonder no one goes to games...

It is a testament to how good Marshall has been the last couple decades to even be getting close to back .500. We were well below when I arrived as a freshman in 88. The 60s, 70s, and 80s were not kind in terms of Ws & Ls.
