OK, OK, so my alma mater ended up # 1, which makes it kind of fun to post this kind of thing, but there are a number of MAC teams among the top non-BCS programs for all-time DI winning percentage in the modern era:
All time DI ranking/school/winning %:
17). Miami .650
22). S-Miss .618
25). Fresno .606
26). BG .604
27). L-Tech .602
30). CMU .600
31). BYU .596
36). S Diego St.562
38). UT .558
40). Wyoming .552
Other MAC notables: 45). Ball State at .535 and 47). Akron at .53.
Shows you how successful CMU was over the years............even with the last 7-8 years of pretty bad teams, their overall winning % is still .600.

It shows you how long some of these teams have been playing.

The results, in addition to indicating "how long some of these teams have been playing..," also indicate consistency of successive seasons for the program. :D

Success in longevity is harder to do than in a short period.

Yup, playing a long time and winning, too! (actually, some of these programs like CMU have only been DI or DIA since 1975 or so...they were the DII national champ.......there was no DIAA then.... their last year at that level before joining the MAC).

And that's despite that U-G-L-Y 1-21 stretch just a few years ago.

It is a testament to how good Marshall has been the last couple decades to even be getting close to back .500. We were well below when I arrived as a freshman in 88. The 60s, 70s, and 80s were not kind in terms of Ws & Ls.
