These schools should get together and form a Conference. Call it Conference Butts Are Dissappering (CBAD).

Rank#School/Attendance

105 Houston 14986

106 Wyoming 13687

107 Troy St. 13403

108 Arkansas St. 13199

109 Ball St. 12849

110 Akron 11600

111 Buffalo 11244

112 Middle Tenn. St. 11163

113 Idaho 10931

114 Eastern Mich. 10777

115 San Jose St. 10360

116 Kent St. 10086

117 La.-Monroe 8470

CBAD East:
1.Akron
2.Ballst
3.Buffalo
4.Kentst
5.EMU
6.MTSU

CBAD West:
1.La-Monroe
2.Houston
3.Wyoming
4.ArkansasST
5.TroyST
6.Idaho
7.SanJoseSt.

The championship game can be played at La-Monroe to insure the sparcest crowd possible for a Conference Championship.

Uh. I won't try to defend Ball State's horrific attendance this year other than note that:

1. Even though the current NCAA attendance mandates use "paid attendance", i.e., tickets sold, BSU decided to try to count butts in seats (the 2004 NCAA mandate). It might have work better if we had turnstyles and ticket counters at all the gates.

2. Five straight losing seasons takes a toll on even some die-hards.

3. A home schedule that included IAA powerhouse Indiana State and MAC foes Northern Illinois (before they got hot), Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan (after they were out of the running) and Buffalo (in late November) did little to excite the locals.

New President, new AD, new head coach and a 2003 home schedule that includes Missouri, Toledo and Bowling Green will likely improve attendance.

BTW. BSU's capacity is around 23,000.

Well I hope you make it above 15k. BG may be ready to slide back into the under 15k orange and brown abyss with Meyer leaving.

Isn't it ironic that Houston and San Jose (in San Jose's stadium) are hosting bowls?

LOL!

Troy State averages 76.59% of its capacity. Which is a better percentage than Marshall, Ohio, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Miami OH, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Ball State, Kent State, Akron, and Central Florida.

I'd say drawing 13,403 per game in a 17,500 seat stadium during a 4-8 season while playing teams like Southern Utah, Fla Int, and Austin Peay is pretty damn good. They don't even have conference rivalries to draw on for attendance.

I don't see what stadium capacity has to do with it.

Percent of capacity is a bogus, nothing stat as far as this discussion is concerned. A school either meets the minimum standard of 15K attendance or it doesn't. Most would agree 15K is a very reasonable attendance target for a 1-A school.
