Toledo and MAC fans must attend this year's Motor City Bowl en masse!
I will be dissapointed if there isn't at least 45,000 at this game.
Here are some of the reasons why the bowl should be well attended.
1) First college football game at Ford Field.
2) BC is against a high quality opponent with a national reputation.
3) UT is one of our best teams on the field and in the stands.
4) Toledo is a short distance away.
The MAC needs to prove to the nation that we can consistently support bowls with good attendance. And we can do it without the freaking Big Ten (can't count to 11) as an opponent!!!

Karl Wrote:MARSHALL77 Wrote:Karl I just figured that it would be the same ticket deal as had been in the past. At any rate the upper bowl empty...really looks great on television doesn't it. Like I said the MCB needs a Michigan team in this game and not a MAC Michigan team ...embrassing attendance imo
I went on ad nauseum last year about getting MSU into the MCB. I believe even the Silverdome would have sold out with Michigan State in it, and I stll believe that. Get a locally popular B10/11 team in the game, and the attendance will pop some eyes nationwide. Of course, I only think that would happen with UM, MSU, and OSU, but you never know.
If you have an MSU in the MCB I would guarantee a sell-out. Back in the days of the now-defunct Cherry Bowl, which was played at the Silverdome, Michigan State played Army (c. 1984?) and there were about 70,000 people on hand for that game. The next year the Cherry Bowl had Maryland vs. Syracuse. It was the last Cherry Bowl.
I know the MCB folks are banging their heads against the wall. First, since the inception of the MCB, not one Michigan team from the MAC has participated, thus hurting attendance among local folks and now with the B10 not delivering, it seems that the MCB is snakebit. I am sure they are happy to have Toledo as the Rockets are as close to be a local school without being in Michigan.
Also, I don't think it is at all embarrasing for the stadium to have empty seats. It still has better attendance than many of the other pre-New Year's bowls whose stadiums also appear half-empty many times.
No matter, I will be there. GO ROCKETS!
