Iowa is going to the Orange Bowl. They went undefeated in the Big Ten. Certainly they could contend for the MAC championship but winning it would not be a gimmie. They beat third place MAC East Miami by five points. Do any of you MAC fans believe that Miami, UCF, Marshall, Toledo, Bowling Green, NIU wouldn't give Iowa all they wanted?

Would Banks make All-MAC first or second team? UCF's Ryan Schneider didn't. Banks transferred from UCF because he couldn't get on the field. He wasn't good enough. Which of these MAC quarterbacks would you trade for Brad Banks?

Byron Leftwich? No.
Ben Roethlisberger? No.
Brian Jones? No.
Ryan Schneider? No.
Josh Harris? Maybe?
Charlie Frye? Maybe?
Joshua Cribbs? Maybe?

Brad Banks might win the Heisman Trophy today. How is that possible? How is it possible that a guy that would be the fifth or sixth best quarterback in the MAC could be recognized as the nation's best player?

Early season games are not always indicative of how good a team is. Not to take anything away from Miami, but this Iowa team is very good. They improved quite a bit as the season went on against tough teams. And, yes, believe it or not, they're probably quite a bit better than your team.

Did Brad Banks really attend UCF, then transfer to Iowa. More details please...

I believe he was there his freshman year. Then went to a JUCO before heading to Iowa.

Please consult this year's MAC OOC record against ranked teams. Or choose bowl teams from BCS conferences. You can also limit it to this year's best 5 MAC teams of your choice.

This may be the most absurd thread of the year!

Am I alone here?

Good post, Stick.

Although I probably would trade B.Jones for Banks, the rest of the QBs mentioned I probably wouldn't.

The MAC is obviously loaded with QBs, and honestly I don't think Banks has a shot at winning the Heisman.

About the Jones thing, I guess I'm just not impressed with him - maybe because I've only seen him play a few times. Sure he's got a high passing percentage, but look how many times he's thrown the ball compared to Leftwich, Frye, and Rothleisberger(who are all not far behind).

Brad Banks flunked out of UCF and went to JuCo. We didn't recruit him hard to come back. Little mistake. 05-nono

UCF doesn't give any free rides to athletes.

The reason why we didn't recruit him was because we were pretty set at QB with Schneider for the forseeable future.

Coach K has nothing but good things to say about Banks.

they didn't recruit him because he failed out. UCF doesn't usually re-recruit kids that failed out at UCF. Freddy Saint Preux (DT who failed out this summer) is a stud in Junior College and is getting tons of BCS attention for next season and UCF has no interest in re-signing him. it had nothing to do with Schneider because he isn't half the QB that Brad Banks is.

I'm just posting what I've heard.

Schneider is on pace to own all the passing records at UCF before he's done, who's to say how Banks would have done at UCF, he had one good year in Iowa...I think all the pieces came together for that team this year.

Schneider fits very well into UCF's offense. And after Schneider's redshirt freshman year when he took over for Vic Penn, we didn't need a QB anymore, at least not a JUCO QB.

Ryan Schnieder played better in Oxford than Brad Banks did. On the other hand, Miami was pumped to play Iowa and we fought tooth and nail all day long. Effort against UCF was worst of the year, so maybe it is not fair to compare.

If I'm correct, wasn't that Brad Banks' 2nd or 3rd start of his career, as opposed to Schneider's nearly 30th?
