I believe the pre-football season MAC media meetings begin Tuesday.

A poll will be taken of where East and West Division members will finish and there will probably will be some announcements.

According to a Marshall sportswriter, the meetings will be held in Detroit.

Can somebody help out here? Have the pre-season football meetings ever been held in Detroit before? Haven't they usually been held in Cleveland?

I'm thinking that holding them in Detroit suggests that some announcements will be made involving Detroit and the MAC. Could it be that an announcement is forthcoming concerning the MACC being held in Detroit's Ford Field?

Any of you have predictions about MAC announcements that might be made?

I believe they have been held there frequently... Detroit as well as Pontiac, Mich.

It helps hype the Motor City Bowl a little bit.

The meetings are today and tomorrow in Detroit. I know they were in Detroit last year too. We should hear about where the MACC will be played (East Winner or neutral field), the MAC Media will do their poll for who will finish where, and possibly some other little things.

As for Temple, I have seen a post by a supposed "Temple Insider" saying that their administration did not like that the MAC wanted 4 OOC b-ball games against MAC schools per year as part of the deal for Temple joining the MAC in football so it is unlikely that they will be joining the MAC unless we break on that stance. I don't think we should give in either.

Four would be my bottom line.
You need at least that many to help build the rivalries to help carry over to the football. We learned that lesson with Central Fla. One sport alone with many schools who don't even play that team in a given year makes for a weak alliance. The Knights recognition factor is pretty low on most MAC campuses and opposite is true for them, too, I imagine.
If it weren't for hoops, Temple would never be considered on their football alone. If they would rather stay independent in football, fine. They don't help us that much in football to not get some of their hoops value in return for giving them a solid conference in which to play.
Three only works if two of the games are in MAC arenas every year--and they'll never buy that.
