Down to 36 (-9) from the one loss. Now we don't play anyone, except maybe Hawaii, who can help us much here.
Still, we are better off here than Creighton, Butler and the rest of the "mids", unless you call St. Joe in the A-10 a mid--they are 31.
They were talking about this on ESPN radio last evening--that Kent still looks the best of the mid-majors in terms of getting an at-large if a loss comes in the conf. tourney. And that was considering Saturday's loss.

The latest bracketology guesses are in (as of 2/10) ... and the results are mixed. Lunardi still has us as a #8 seed, although he says we are really a #9 ... and Jerry Palm has us as a #12 seed.

Palm's track record is prolly better at predicting the brackets than Lunardi, so the margin for error is obviously pretty slim at this point. Maybe room for one more conference loss or it's Gund or bust.

I think you are right, Gooze--that would put us at 23-4, give us at least one win at the Gund--24-5 after the MAC tourney or 25-5 if we were to lose the final: that should get us in.
That's a pretty tough order, though and we go to Muncie, Athens, and Huntington, and all of them want us badly. Akron, OU, Buffalo, and Hawaii at home and got to win 6 out of 7. Makes this week a big one.

We should be able to get the O going at Ball and if we can keep Williams somewhat in check, or at least make him work hard at both ends we should present our usual matchup problems for them. They'll have a good crowd though and I wonder if they remember the 30 pt. thrashing we gave them last year??? (Though most of those guys aren't playing, I don't think.)

I hate to be a pessimist, but from what I saw on Saturday, this team needs to refresh its legs in a hurry. The season has paid its toll. Coach Jim has not developed the bench as he should have. It is too late now, but there are at least 2-3 more players on the bench who could have given some very valueable minutes. Our success over the past 4 years has been due to good play from 8-10 players. We are riding our horse too hard and it is showing. Hopefully, superman has an extra cape. We want to win the war, not just a few battles. 04-cheers

With 7 games to go i would think 6-1 would get us an at-large. That would be a 23-4 regular season. With a 1st round loss how could you ignore 23-5.

The "major" conferences middle of the road teams are suspect and i think the selection committee is finally going to recognize the mid-majors based on the fact almost every year one us mid-majors make the elite 8.

If Michigan State gets in after losing to middle or bottom MAC feeder Toledo at home i'll be pissed.

This is all based on us winning the outright reg season. IF NIU somehow wins the reg season all bets are off and the only way in is to win the tourney.
