This team continues to have me completely befuddled.

First 5+ minutes, the intensity was there and we looked completely in control. Then for the next 12 minutes, we looked totally lost and quite frankly, uninspired. Although, I think foul trouble on Edwards and Gerwig had something to do with it. Thankfully, we finished strong to finish the half and cut the deficit to a deuce.

The second half was a total different story. It may have been the best half of basketball that this team played all year. DeAndre continued to be a spark, Haut & Wilkins knocked down some loooong 3's, Gerwig was a beast on the glass with some easy throw downs (altho he made some of them more difficult than he should have) ... and Gates chipped in his consistent play at both ends. He had a monster throw down late in the game, before he was poked in the eye. Plus the 'D'really turned up the intensity - especially on Blackshear.

All in all, I am cautiously optimistic on our chances the next 2 nites - as long as Gates' eye is o.k. 04-bow

Nice showing by Flash Fans as well. Too bad, I couldn't stick around for game 2, but work beckons.

I listened to the game, so you have the better perspective. From what i heard, we've put together solid game. (Hey, two in a row). My observations:

Nice to have Haut get his touch back.
Wilkins showed up (hey, it's dawned on him that he's down to the last few games).
Haynes added defensive intensity.
Gerwig gave us some inside presence ( from 12 points in 18 minutes- not bad)
Gates was, well, Gates.

Wish we were not playing OU tomorrow. We'll see.

First, I will give Marshall's defense credit for the scoring drought in the later part of the first half. Their PG put a lot of pressure on the ball and frankly all of the KSU players were pretty lazy with the ball. This lead to too many turnovers. Haut and Wilkens shots wouldn't fall either. Add to that Gerwig and Edwards foul troubles and that added up to the MUg lead at the half.

In the second half, Gerwig was a big part of the turnaround along with a switch to that nice 1-3-1 D that they used on OU. Shots started to fall, they go the championship swagger, they turned up the heat on D...game over. A great half of ball.

P.S. - Did anyone hear about Gates? How is he? Will he be able to go tomorrow?

Cut eyelid and had a couple of stitches to close it up. Coach said he was icing it so that it wouldn't swell up and close. Hopefully, he'll be ok.

Cross your fingers!!!

Couple of stitches.
Little blood.
Some swelling.
Antonio Gates 03-cool =Ain't no big thing.

I'm sure most players take worse shots in practice.
Can you imagine how many times awkward John Edwards must nail people with his elbows in practice?

He has a football mentality anyway--the more contact the better and a little pain just gets him into the game.
