Whew, just got back from bugging the Miami and UCF home locker rooms and from my golf outing with commisioner Chryst and a couple MAC referees....glad to see things haven't changed around here.
Concerning the visiting Toledo fans getting spit on and assaulted Huntington...were all ten Mudhen fans involved in these altercations or only a portion?

The kind of conduct described by both Toledo and Marshall fans as perpetrated against the other is unexcusable. I'm ashamed that any Toledo fan would act in the manner that's been described and I'd hope most Marshall fans feel the same way about the actions committed by it's fans.

UTLAW,
I've attended too many Marshall games to be ashamed of the actions of my fellow fans. There have been too many times that I've personally witnessed cordial, civilized, fun interaction between Herd and visiting fans, to believe that Huntington is a bad place to visit. Last year, my wife and I sat beside a couple from UCF whose daughter was in the GoldenKnight marching band. At no point during the game were they treated with a lack of respect. We carried on a nice conversation throughout the game and on several occasions the gentlemen commented about how nice it was to be part of such an enthusiastic environment and how he had enjoyed his trip. Back in '99 I remember walking back to my vehicle with some friends and we were talking to some WMU fans walking back to their vehicle. We discussed the game and they stopped by our tailgate spot and had a few beers while traffic lightened up. At no point were they threatened or harassed. I could go on with friendly encounters I've had or witnessed with fans from OU, Kent (yeah there have been a couple), Montana, EMU, etc. If you go to a game looking to have a good evening and act in a civilized manner, chances are nobody is going to mess with you. If you go looking for trouble, running off at the mouth, acting like a moron...you're gonna find trouble. It isn't too hard to figure out. Simply b/c a few Marshall haters come on here and claim that folks have been treated poorly in Huntington doesn't make it so and certainly doesn't fairly represent the fans in Huntington. Just like I don't believe the majority of Toledo fans treat MU fans in an uncivilized fashion. There are always a few idiots who have nothing better to do with their lives than to harass or antagonize opposing fans, but in every stadium I've visited these fans are easily in the minority.

You haven't visited the Horseshoe in Columbus yet I take it! Maybe you can when Marshall plays them in a couple of years, can't remember the exact year. Their fans can be pretty nasty, and I am not talking about just a few fans!

And neither is anyone talking about a few provoked Marshall fans.

rf,
I went to the tOSU-Texas Tech game last August at the shoe. I have some friends who live in Columbus so we usually make it to a game every other year or so. Of course, I usually wear my Michigan hat to our tailgate just to pi$$ off my buddy, so I kinda expect some of the remarks that are sent in my direction.
I've never been to a game in Ann Arbor, but just about every Meeechigan fan I've ever met has been a royal pain in the arse...I'd imagine a game there would be an unfriendly environment for visitors.

Michigan fans are pretty cocky if you run into them on message boards. I have never been to a game in Ann Arbor myself so I don't know what it's like. I am a Michigan Hater though. I wish they would go 0-11 or 0-12 every friggin' year!

Oddball,
For some reason I have a hard time believing that any comments you make regarding Marshall are unbiased and honest. Not sure why I have that opinion of you.

I wish all Big Ten teams would go 0-11 every year (although conference scheduling makes that impossible).

I never claim to be unbiased about Marshall. However, that doesn't reflect on the validity of how I arrived at those biases.

Imagine 100,000 or so clueless yuppies throwing paper airplanes and doing the wave. That's a game in Ann Arbor. On the bright side, there are excellent places to eat and drink before and after the game. Oh, and if your @ss is wider than about 9 inches, you won't be very comfortable in the stands.

That's about 5 inches more than you get at Peed-In Stadium.
