And before you routinely write this off...do some research of depth at the positions I mentioned and you will clearly see BG's advantage...but again, the wild card is Jacobs...and I am betting he will be just fine by the time the MAC season swings into high gear.
BG has a better run game, receiving corps, and O-line? Good God! And you tell me to do my research?

Oklahoma is going to kill you guys. And I wouldn't be surprised if you fall a few more times before your November date in the Glass Bowl. On the other hand, we at least have a shot at Minnesota.

By the way, I tried to do research on your defense but unlike Toledo's official site that has depth charts and so forth, BG's has absolutely nothing. What a shame! :chair:

Wow, these Toledo morons are really blinded by their own desire to have Toledo better.

Any objective observer would have to call the offenses close to equal (one can nit-pick about units...whatever.) But c'mon. You Rockettes are wanting so bad for BG to suck, it is pathetic. 10 starters back on a pretty good defense.

that is out of 11, toledo'fans'* Toledo will have a fine team. I just don't think that they will be able to stop anyone on defense. Any disagreements?

BG will, and we will be able to score.

Lots.

This will all be really funny if NIU wins the west.

Are you seriously saying that BG does not at least have the ground game, receivers and O-line to match Toledo's? BG has more depth and experience at all three positions.

The attached link has the spring football prospectus in .pdf format. In it you will find that BG's offensive line will have three 5th year seniors and 2 red shirt juniors. And I am sorry, but noboby in this conference has receivers to match Magner, Sharon, Hawkins, McGrady and Sanders, all of whom are either seniors or juniors. And with the loss of Astin Martin, you have to take Pope (191-1005) and Lane (78-498) together over Dawson (199-999) and the little used Broussard (17-88).

The only possible claim you have for superiority here is on the Offensive line because Kaczur is so good...but Mrczkowski is no slouch at center.

<a href='http://bgsufalcons.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/040804aaa.html' target='_blank'>2004 BGSU Spring Prospectus</a>

And yes...we will probably get beaten pretty badly by Oklahoma...at least we don't have delusions of grandeur of an undefeated season before the first game is even played.

Oklahoma may or may not kill us. But I GUARANTEE you we won't embarrass ourselves as the rockettes did at Syracuse and Ball State last yr.

BG's D has 10 starters back this yr...and will be much better than last yr. Our O line is just as good as UT's, our backs are better and I'd say BG has the edge in the WR unit...although UT's unit is solid.
I expect UT to lose 3 to 4 games this yr. Your fantasy of an undefeated season won't happen.

And we may even upset the Sooners!!! 04-rock 04-bow

GO FALCONS!!

I would rather watch my team embarrass themselves with piss poor play against Syracuse, a respectable team from NY, than lose to a team like Buffalo. Every team has a loss thats embarrassing to them, but that loss definetly takes the cake 03-lol . Way to go on ending Buffalos 18 game losing streak. 03-lol

I have heard of living in the past but TJ that is ridiculous.

And of course Toledo never lost to anybody who wasn't good in their history either.

At least Ball State has won some MAC titles in the past. Buffalo has won......NOTHING! Let's see, they beat BG, Ohio, and Ohio. Anyone else from the MAC?

I really hope BG beats Oklahoma......seriously, I really hope they do. However, I got a feeling that Oklahoma is going to embarrass you guys. I hope I am wrong.

BTW, if OU kills you guys wouldn't that be embarrassing?

Why would losing to the #1 or #2 team in the country be embarrassing for anyone?

As I mentioned before...we have no unrealistic expectations of an undefeated season like you Rockette optimists have.

And for the record...I hope Minnesota creams you...LOL

We have a much better chance of going undefeated than BG does because we don't have an Oklahoma on our schedule.

As for how losing to the #1 or #2 team look embarrassing? Keep thinking that it isn't and stay in your whole not wanting to improve if that is how you feel. Fact is, a blowout loss to Oklahoma just adds fuel to the fire for the BCS in saying that conferences like the MAC don't belong and don't deserve a chance to get into a BCS bowl.

Example - let's say that OU beats BG 56-7 (just hypothetical). BG then wins the MAC Title this year, winning the rest of their games and going 11-1 before bowl games (very hypothetical here). The BCS will say that BG, and the MAC since they won it in this very hypothetical view, don't deserve to be anywhere near the BCS because when they played someone good they got blown out.

For teams like Toledo, NIU, Marshall, and BG......a blowout loss will be embarrassing. Guys in conferences like C-USA, MWC, WAC, and the MAC (sorry Sun Belt) are depending on games like this to be rather close. You don't have to win, but they don't want to see a blowout because that makes us all look pretty silly when we say it isn't fair that we can't be in the BCS.

Do I want BG to win...sure...do all BG fans want them to win...sure

Do all BG fans expect BG to win...not likely. If the guys play hard and no ones gets injured...who cares how the end result makes our program or the MAC look...the MAC will never be a part of the BCS anyway...there is just too much money to be lost by the big boys if that happens.

With the exception of the last two games of last year, Oklahoma blew out everybody from one of the top three conferences in college football. Including #5 Texas (65-13) and #22 Oklahoma State (52-9). Not to mention a 77-0 thrashing of Texas A&M. I seriously doubt if we get beat by more than the spread (30 points) that the MAC will get looked upon any more negatively than they already are.

And BTW, UT will not beat Kansas and Miami and Northern Illinois. In fact, you will probably lose 2 of those games...so a win in the Minnesota game will in no way mean an undefeated season looms. That's the beauty of BG opening up against OU. We have a brand new QB and absolutely no pressure to win...that really eats you rockettes now doesn't it? 03-lol  03-lol

RWT, I hope you had a nice birthday. However, you don't have a clue! I am not talking about BG having to beat Oklahoma, just don't lose 56-7 or something.

Maybe Toledo won't beat Kansas, Minnesota, and NIU. Maybe Toledo will.

The BCS won't necessarily be around forever, but while it is the "Coalition" needs to keep making progress. If you don't agree, then forget about being a BG fan and start cheering for a I-AA school like Youngstown State.

ummm... yeah we were like, 2-9, in 2000 and what I think was our worst team. Buffalo was better than BG that year. We weren't a division title contender like UT was last yr.

Syracuse? You're kidding, right? What has the 'Cuse done lately that makes them a powerhouse?
Beating Pitt was awesome for UT....'Cuse and Ball State were embarrassments, IMO.
I mean UT trailed Ball State 38-0 in the 4th quarter! They dominated UT.

What if Buffalo beats Syracuse ths yr? 03-razz

You got that right!

I think the Sooners are gonna come roarin' out that door. They have lost 2 straight.

We could get our heads handed to us...or not. I don't concede victory to ANY team ANY time.
Our boys will play their @sses off and try to win the game.

Personally, I hope UT beats Minny and Kansas so it helps our SOS when we beat the rockettes in NOV! 04-rock

One way to find out....the upset of the year on 9/4. GO FALCONS!!!
