THIS IS A WESTERN KENTUCKY MESSAGE BOARD. Should not have have sort through uk topics to talk about what the topic of this forum is supposed to be about -- WESTERN KENTUCKY.

Their are 1000s of message boards out there that fit every category you could possibly want to chat about. No reason to have to have this crap on here. Their is even be a UK message on THIS SITE. just go to CONFERENCES -> SEC -> KENTUCKY. BINGO!!!!

go to a uk message board and talk about uk sports. come to this board when you want to talk about WKU sports. Talking about uk and uofl on here is an insult to our school. Do you wear kentucky and louisville gear to wku games?

As painful as it is for me to accept, I can acknowledge their are some WKU fans that are uk fans also (maybe more so). Maybe if they knew more about the history of two schools, they would think differently, but whatever. But that does't mean it's okay to polute a WESTERN KENTUCKY with uk crap.

I am not sure why it is so difficult, if you want to talk about UK players, go to a UK message board. It is a pretty simple concept. I don't want browsers who are just passing through seeing a WKU board consumed with uk crap. I hate that, and makes us look like bad.

Incidently, I know wku_topper is a UK fan also, so I know this is a dead point for this forum.

Galo several options here, but it goes back to this are playing by the rules of the board? On Haven, if this topic is not on the general board then it should be moved. On here it is fine, no rule against it. Once again I will tell you just because people are discussing one player that plays for one team it does not make them "a fan" of that team.

Much like if I am talking about Hillary Clinton it doesn't make me a liberal, if I am talking about baseball it doesn't make me a major leaguer, and if I am talking about the water it doesn't make me a duck.

Back to point, as you said in your original rant, you are not the mod of this board, why then do you come on here and try to enforce what you think the rules should be? These other guys have it right, just don't click on the thread, if you do don't comment on it, then you are only :bang: .

Please start posting about other things, you are to interesting to waste your time and energy on diatribes like this. :)

I just won't support a board that seems to be interested in talking about uk. I like the open forum idea, I like ingaging with SBC fans on issues, as they relate to WKU. That, after all, is what you would expect on a forum entitled "Western Kentucky". But I don't think talking about the archrival "state" school would fly on any other SBC school's forums.

I'm not trying to enforce rules, I am trying to enforce common sense.

Again, do you were kentucky gear when you go to Diddle? Why post uk topics when you come to a WKU forum?

If you will re-read my original post, nowhere does it say I like uk. Call me a poor poster, a no good sob, whatever, but please NEVER call me a uk fan. I know the history of both schools and have never once pulled for uk, probably because I was fortunate enough to grow up knowing the Western tradition. I also was taught from an early age about uk.

I do not feel as if I'm polluting a Western Kentucky messageboard. My post is a negative one towards uk. I will agree that this post has nothing to do with Western, but it does have something to do with sports (which I do enjoy, even outside of Western Kentucky University, and I know that is difficult for some people to comprehend).

As for posting this on a uk messageboard, why would I want to pop in and talk smack to them? Heck, I've never even visited a uk board, why start now? How would we like it if some smuck never came around, but all of a sudden put our school down? Probably not very much and I treat people the way I want to be treated. Also, I just wanted to throw my opinion out there to others that I normally chat/messageboard with. Is that a crime because my post doesn't involve Western Kentucky? Should I just keep my fingers rested if I don't have anything to say about Western, but would like to chat about other happenings in sports? If I wanted to talk solely about WKU, I would post more on Haven. I have no problem with people just wanting to talk WKU, and I think Haven is a great outlet, but why shouldn't we discuss other sports happenings that do not involve Western Kentucky?

Thanks for keeping the spirit of this thread alive. But, like I said before, don't open the thread if this is something you don't want to hear about. And if it is something you don't want to talk about, you certainly shouldn't post anything on the thread, even if it does just say that you don't agree with it being on this board.

Thats a shame, hate to see you go. To answer your question, no I wouldn't wear UK gear to WKU game(or anywhere else) but if I was decked out in WKU gear at a WKU game and at half time a person next to me mentioned another team I would talk to them have a nice conversation and let it go at that. All any of us are doing is having a conversation.

Since when does one single topic pollute a whole board? That's the real question. Also, we didn't just discuss UK in this thread. I believe we were discussing the NBA draft, some players that didn't get selected, and I even mention Matt Walsh, a player from Florida.

Now, I would agree with Galojay if every other topic on this board were Uk oriented. As far as I can tell, this is the first thread to even mention them. I'm sorry you don't like the topic, but just move on and discuss something else. It's not worth getting all worked up over. It's only one thread, not the enitre board! :rolleyes:

I defy anyone to find a pro UK post I have ever made. You can find some negative ones, more about that programs fans and administration and the way the state leg. caters to that program than the athletic teams, but not positive about that program.

This thread and your and Galo's fervent hatred of that program only serves to warn me to guard my thoughts, because they could go places that are unreasonable. You're leaving this board just because everyone doesn't "hate UK" to the level you do?

On Haven a while back there was a conversation about the fact that the rest of the Sunbelt "hates WKU" because thats what people do to the superior team in the league. I would never give any other school in the state of KY the opportunity to say, the reason WKU hates us so much and can't even have a conversation about us is because we are so much better than they are. No school is better or superior to Western, and I won't give UK or UL(BE) fans the chance to say about us something like that. I will respect all and fear none.

Hope you and Galo change your mind, if this was about a favorite restuarant or mens clothing store don't you think it would be kind of ridiculous to say, "I'm never coming back to the Iron Skillet again, the people at the table next to me were talking about the food at Mariahs." It would be sorta ridiculous wouldn't it?

Rivals has equally failed to grasp the concept of NCAAbbs. There are those that prefer their closed communities... where only the equivalent of censored material can flow. Thankfully, these people are few in numbers. At NCAAbbs it's not about driving home premium content and profits. It's not about blowing sunshine up your arse 24/7/365. It's about a community of true fans who have a love for the game(s) and don't mind talking about said game(s) with other fans from all around the country. Nowhere else in the planet can you find such interaction all across the spectrum of college sports fans. This is reality (for the most part) uncensored. No ego stroking... No nazi modding... No premium bs. Just fans. Just good discussion. Just interaction with fans that, outside here, rarely if ever interact. If you can't appreciate/grasp that concept... or just don't like it... hey... more power to you. But while you sit in your heavily censored sunshine only community... we'll be here. We'll be happy. We'll continue to grow rapidly every day and welcome all fans with open arms. If someday for whatever reason you change your mind... we'll save a seat at the bar for you.
