I really think for the time being UL(BE) has passed U of K. I put the third option in for the true die hards that cannot bring themselves to vote for the other two. Please post which of the two you think is superior to the other.(we all no nobody is better than the Hilltoppers!)

okay Truman, you're getting poll happy. This poll is stupid and unrelated to WKU. Why do I want to vote on the other state schools?

Same as in the case of a politician that has nothing to say, take a poll. I really think it does have a relationship with WKU. The longer UK is in second to UL the shakier their fan base becomes. No southern Ky basketball fan will ever support UL so that leaves room for surge of Hilltopper support in South Central KY. Their now my fig leaf is in place. Jay, can we do a poll on whether or not people think this thread is WKU related? Huh? can we? :laugh: :rolleyes:

Sorry... I just don't see why UofL or uk need to be even mentioned on a WKU forum. Their crap is thrown in our faces all the time on the media.. last thing I want to see on a WKU form is discussions about those schools.

Maybe you like those schools alos, that is your right, but I HATE them and don't even want to see their names mentioned.

Can't stand either, but I like pointing out that the Lexington school is far from the dominant program at least on the court/field. Sorry I irritated you. :)

While I agree that this particular poll has nothing to do with anything (no offense intended Truman), I sincerely hope that this board does not become another "policed" board.

There is enough of that on the other board. Any mention of any school, especially in-state schools, generates riotous hatred and results in threads 2-3 pages long.

I hope thats not where this board is headed.

I will never hide my hatred for uk and uofl. I don't want this to become an eku or murray board where uk and uofl is commonly discussed. This is a WESTERN board. If I want to discuss uofl or uk athletics, I am sure their are message boards for that.

I haven't been able to post much this week after the initial flood of posting last weekend but I'm glad to see I was proven wrong and it has lasted a week.


I'm with ya man. Don't let a couple of posters get you down. You do what you want and don't bother trying to please everyone (i.e. the Haven, Haven posters, etc.)....it can't be done.

This is a WKU board, not a secondary Haven board. The Hilltopper nation is much larger than the few posters from the Haven. If someone chooses not to post here again because of a thread about UK or UL, then they can go back to the nice, moderated, confines of the Haven.....just proves the point our rivals have said about the Haven and by association, all WKU fans.

Back to your topic: Your analysis of the weakening UK base in SouthCentral KY is very true....Most would never choose to become UL fans, but many would jump on the Topper Ship if we start making noise in March/April again. I've known many "diehard" UK fans that have become disenchanted with the UK programs over the last few years. UK doesn't have the broadbased support it had during the Pitino era. Don't get me wrong. UK still has an enormous following from throughout KY but I believe it's dissipating.....

You're a wise man and....I've read your postings for quite awhile and.... you have gained my respect....but....

Although I can't stand either UL or UK, ignoring the fact that they exist and dominate not only the media and fan support in KY, it is not healthy. We can talk about them, laugh at them, ridicule them, etc....but please don't ignore them...it's just not realistic. Those of us who still live in KY live with it every day, whether we wish to or not.

I guess I cannot explain myself well. I just soon not acknowledge them, they get far too much acknowledgment, they don't need any more from a WKU message board. But feed their egos,... if you must.


And thank you for the compliments... I am usually level headed, but this is one thing I won't bend on; my hatred for those schools is pretty strong. I'd cheer for the Russians over UK or UofL.
