I hope the Falcon players read this carefully.

This is absurd. If the non-BCS teams want respect, they can at least give it to themselves.

UNLV had 1 vote, Wisconsin 72.

BG was well behind Purdue.

It's clear that the BCS coaches are biased against the non-BCS teams, and they readily admit in interviews that they don't want to share the BCS money.

Non-BCS should bias their votes for non-BCS teams, to balance things out and get media attention to those teams. A team is more likely to get on the air if they have a ranking, in either poll. And a sportswriter who has gone to bed will more likely vote for a team the next week if he sees they're ranked in the other poll.

Get w/ the program!

I see Amstutz and Darnell (MAC-W); Pruett, Owens, Hoeppner, Kruczek (MAC-E). Plus plenty of coaches from other non-BCS teams.

BG and NIU should be getting 10-15 pts from each of these guys. No less than 60 pts, and more like 90. Plus other coaches will probably throw in some votes (You think Friedgen might give NIU a nod at some point?)

There is plenty of room to compete on the field, the non-BCS teams need cooperation everywhere else!

With all the teams that lost and dropped out, I thought either NIU or BG had a shot to make the Top 25. This sucks!

You have to think like a pollster if you want to understand its frequent absurdity.

It's time for the preseason poll. I cast my votes, with reasonble certainty of the best Top 15-20. For the rest, I'll just go with teams from my local BCS conference.

After Week 1. Well, I wrong about a few of the picks. I'll just move up the teams that won and move down the squads that lost. Nevermind about how they played or who they played; I don't have the time to analyze that. When in doubt, stick with the teams from my local BCS.

Ibid, week after week. Individual pollsters will almost never admit they were totally wrong (positive or negative) about a team, so will tend not to make radical changes in their individual rankings.

How else, after this week, can ANYONE explain why in the Coaches Poll OHIO STATE is still ranked above MICHIGAN? Or ARKANSAS is still far below the TEXAS team they just manhandled down in Austin? Or TEXAS A&M even being ranked? Or WISCONSIN getting 71 votes?

Until pollsters QUIT predicating their rankings based upon how they voted the prior week AND pay more attention to how the actual games PLAYED OUT, these flaws in the poll results will persist.

And don't even get me started on the double-standard in BCS vs. non-BCS voting. For example: Why does PITT, MINNESOTA, and VIRGINIA all gain in the polls after beating MAC teams, while undefeated NIU and BGSU lose ground?

The Tulane guy just got diagram #1 for his case. You link the games to a jury with the outcomes and show the movement in the polls and you just proved why the have-nots will never make into the land of the haves. Hell my 6 yr old daughter could make that case clear enough.

To go a bit further, if the non-BcS schools wanted to make that point that we can't make it into the BcS game because of the dependancy on polls, well, what better way to demonstrate that point than to tell your coaches to not vote for your schools in the coaches' poll? ;-) Reduced votes means the virtually impossible chance that non-BcS schools had for a BcS game becomes literally impossible.

At least I think it would be a nice way to try and screw the BcS....

Can these MAC coaches really be voting how they feel? Could it be more probable that they hate the MAC, hate another coach, or are just here to punch their ticket.

I don't believe in a "fluke game" at all, but how can so many BCS coaches think a home loss to a MAC team is a fluke?

BG's been in this situation often enough, for many years. You might be just becoming aware of it as you are starting to pull your head out of your ******.
