<a href='http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/6659326' target='_blank'>For at least one day, MAC roars </a>
Quote:It was the biggest day in MAC history. The conference that literally put the "mid" in mid-major -- and its name -- is at the top of its 57-year history.
There were four monster victories for the Mid-American Conference on Saturday, three of them on the road, all against teams from more prestigious conferences. Three were ranked.
At the end of the carnage, the privileged upper-class of college football is left to ask: How? Why?
Quote:The monumental victories for the quaint Ohio-Michigan directional conference overshadowed Miami (Ohio) walking into Fort Collins and beating Colorado State by 20, 41-21. For a moment there, it looked like pigs were taxiing out for immediate takeoff. Kent State led Penn State 10-0 before falling 32-10. BowlinGreen threw a late scare into Ohio State.
Quote:"It's a little bit of parity, but that's a bunch of bull----," Toledo coach Tom Amstutz said. "If you watch, Pittsburgh is bigger and faster than us. Our guys were motivated to play against them."

I think his rankings are dead on. NIU deserves 15.

A quick review of Massey's CF comparison ranking has NIU #17, Miami #26, BG #28, Toledo #33 and Marshall # 49.
No doubt the 2-2 record hurts the Herd.
Non-BCS:
1 NIU +7
2 TCU +1
3 Louisville +1
4 Miami +6
5 Bowling Green -3
6 Air Force -1
7 Toledo +8
8 Cincinnati -2
9 Fresno St +3
10 UNLV +3
11 Boise St -10
12 Marshall +11
13 Utah -2
14 BYU -5
15 Colorado St -7
Boise St was #1 last week. Apparently the MAC attack definitely drew some attention.
But the gap between the above five and the rest of the league is huge. UCF #82, Ball St #83, Kent St #92, WMU #93, Akron #94,Ohio #97, CMU #101, EMU #114 and Buffalo #115

He still has Bowling Green too low, but I'll take his love for the MAC.

Yeah,
I'll take BG ahead of AF and UNLV.
What has AF done this year? Got scared by N'western?

That may be so, but I didn't think Maryland and Alabama were that much faster than the Huskies. We played them straight up - no fleaflickers, fumblerooskies or hail mary's necessary. Just a tough running game, timely passing, great D and special teams and great gameplans. And never, NEVER underestimate motivation.

They aren't faster, but they are bigger. Motivation is a huge factor, but I really think the difference in our two big wins has been the poise which our players have demonstrated. It's obvious they aren't rattled by these big games with big name teams. We've been nearly flawless in executing our offensive and defensive gameplans, we haven't turned the ball over and we haven't panicked when we got behind. Winning football all the way.
And don't think I didn't pick-up on your backhanded dig at me.
I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it until my dream is realized. This Saturday, our first play from scrimmage NEEDS to be a fumblerooskie, Ghilani rumbling 80 yards to the house....
