The Ohio-Marshall series dates back to 1905, and the schools have met on the gridiron 51 times since then (series record is 29-16-6 in favor of Ohio, although Marshall has clearly dominated the series since 1985). This is clearly a series that both schools should want to continue. If the proposal before the NCAA to extend the season to 12 games passes, which seems likely, it will be much easier for Ohio and Marshall to continue the series into the future and continue to have strong OOC schedules.
And the series WILL become much more competitive in the not too distant future. :D

It is a great series. And when Ohio has things going relatively well, they bring some fans to Huntington.
I would rather have a series with them than the annual 1-aa school delivery and teams like Troy, Middle Tennessee etc.
However, if I could get a deal with Kentucky (which isn't likely), I'd pick it up over Ohio.

Kent State sched: Pitt, UCONN, Iowa, Penn St., tOA&M... all 2002-4.
Don't you ever get tired of being wrong?
You should try to get your sinking ship's scheduling on a par with ours, instead of trying to get 6 year deals with CUSA teams and non-BCS teams like Utah. Or maybe add other "flagships" like Nevada, Maine, and Montana.
Or North Dakota, Alaska-Fairbanks and Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras
UND is Division II for football. The "flagship" school for football in North Dakota is NDSU. They're moving up to Division I-A and lobbying to get into the Big Sky Conference. That was one of the biggest stories in Fargo last week.

Hey DG, you meant 1-AA? Big Sky is a two A conference.

It's particularly noteworthy their AD negotiated away-home-away deals. Everyone knows what happens when you do away-away-home... it becomes away-away-cancelled!
The most delusional comment I've read in a long time had to be from the Marshall fan who said the Herd won't play Ohio U because it would hurt their S.O.S. Yes, scheduling Ohio U will prevent you from otherwise playing in the Orange Bowl every year.
:withstupid:
THe point was not to be in the orange bowl. THe point was if we are trying to improve scheduling then we don't want to add a 1-10 team to the schedule for the next 6 years. All I'm asking is to wait a year befre signing and see if they improve. There will be a new BCS bowl available to non-BCS members if they are ranked high enough. I wouldn't expect the Chips to aspire to getting a piece of it, but we do.
