As a footnote, attendance at the luncheon was larger than that at Kent State's last home game proving that no one cares how proud Dean Pees is of his team's improvement as alumni and students have watched him get lapped by former MAC cellar dwellers BG and NIU. :mad:

Dean has brought the program up from a joke to a team that can at least compete in the MAC;
You have to give him his due at least from that aspect. But the defense has improved very
little over the last few years as teams with any offense can score just about whenever they
want; and thats just no way any indication that Dean can really run a program that will compete
for a MAC title (how ironic from a guy who supossed to really understand defense).
I think from Josh Cribbs aspect Kent will most likely keep Dean another year (so we will be
sloshing this around for a least another year), and with the teams listed above on the
schedule its going to be rough going again for Dean. Dean took the program up a step and
someone else will have to take it further.

A very fair assessment.

If anyone believes that we are now competitive, you are not watching the games that I attend. Do not look at the score. Watch the line play. Watch the Dbacks. The score only indicates that the opponent played just hard enough to win. We will not be competitive until we can stop someone. Can you look at this team and say, oh we are young, but I see a championship in a year or two. I do not see that hope.

Flashfan88 nailed it for me.
Quote:Dean took the program up a step and someone else will have to take it further.
He deserves credit for the progress, and even I admit there has been progress. His personality and willingness to work hard makes him likeable. KSU athletics fancies itself as having a 'family" atmosphere.
This helps us in many ways (e.g. don't notice many asshats embarrassing themselves or the school). However in this case, this is like hoping Grandad will fire Dad. Like others, I predict he'll be given credit for progress and kept around. ( I wonder what Cribbs thinks. We all assume he wants Dean around. But this kid really has to be sick of the overall team performance and lack of talent.)
GFlash 68, I liked your idea of "just sell out one game." I don't know whether L.K. will get behind this, but there is a great possibility of an sell out for Akron. Someone who works at KSU told me that it will again be the Thursday night before Labor Day, the students are back and, as we all know, they hang around Thurday nights, KSU would not have lost yet, and Akron will be back will a vengeance. There were 26K reported in the RB last year; 29K is reasonable. Just imagine- a sold out Dix!!
