"Western Kentucky is definitely a school that could beat a I-A school," he said. "They play with the high intensity level that I-A schools do."

I love to here that this team believes it can play at the highest level.

We really need to support the Toppers and get that home attendance avg up over 13K this fall.... Hopefully the EKU game and weather will help that out....

At minumum we need to win a couple of IAA playoff games after the dismal showing last year.... Does WKU really have a legitimate shot at winning the IAA Championship?

I, too, feel sorry for him. He will never sniff a bowl game, playoff game, or even the thought of a national title. He'll be lucky to ever even have a winning record. For some reason I find it hard to believe that he's watched UK football his whole life and always wanted to wear blue. Why? UK football has had, what, 2 decent seasons in the last 20 years. They went to the Peach bowl in 1994? I think the Outback Bowl was the year after or so, and that was only because the founder of Outback Steakhouses is a UK grad and really, really wanted the team there. I think I'd rather go to a team that consistently wins (i.e. Purdue or WKU) than mire in mediocrity. But, that's what he wanted, so let him have it.

"uk football has got to improve drastically to be mediocre"

I was just thinking the same thing Truman. It's gotten pretty bad and embarassing that uk has got to suck up to u of l nowdays (football of course), to sign a 4 year home and home contract that an sec school can not feel secure enough to play probably the most important football game in the Commonwealth, that most of their supporters and everyone else for that matter want to see as the season opener. If the Tops could get a chance to play them...

...Sucking up to UL??? Let me preface this by saying that UK does have a terrible football team... I do believe the UK/UL has done a whole lot for HS and football in general in this state.... I think WKU and EKU is a very important game as well..... It helps motivate/develop HS school kids to play football in KY... not all these kids can go to UL or UK and play..... So, it helps Western Football as well.

UK wanted to play the game at another time when it was at Lexington... Certainly not an unreasonable request, and I certainly don't think it gives UK any advantages. I'm not so sure it really matters when UL/UK play the game... As I recall UL
played a game before (New Mex St in late Aug) they played UK 3 or 4 years ago.

The fact is that most UK fans want to drop UL off the schedule to have a better chance at another win..... which is a pretty big indicator that they know they have a bad team. As I recall, over the last 20 years UL has played alot of very easy schedules without ever being.... or coming off probabtion...

The fact is UK would be better off always playing a home game in lieu of UL home/home......maybe we can get WKU on the schedule in their place.... 03-razz
