ATHENS, Ohio -- We are very concerned about the increase in unruly behavior surrounding this year's Halloween celebration in Athens. Most in attendance behaved responsibly, but too many did not. While most of those identified as offenders were not Ohio University students, we remain concerned that guests of our students and other visitors to Athens have threatened the safety of the community.

According to information provided to us by Athens Police Department, of 79 individuals arrested and processed on Friday and Saturday through the mass-booking procedure set up for the Halloween Celebration, 12 were Ohio University students.

We will provide arrest information on college and university students from other campuses to the judicial offices on those campuses. Those arrested include students from 21 other colleges and universities.

Christopher S. Kerekes, 23, of Thornville, and Derek R. Branham, 19, of Millersport, were charged with grand theft auto, and Kerekes was also charged with aggravated robbery. The two reportedly dragged for a short distance two men who were visiting from Kent State University, and who attempted to interfere with the theft by latching onto the car.

Naturally, two fine KSU students trying to prevent crime wherever they find it--thought it's not too hard to find in Athens on Halloween. 04-bow

Why am I reminded that "unnamed" OSU fans quoted in several papers blamed the car bruning and looting following the Michigan game on visiting Wolverine fans?

Nice try, Kit Cat. It's the story I'd have sent home to Mom and Dad....
"Don't believe all that stuff you read about OU and Halloween EVERY YEAR. We have OUTSIDERS that come in and make trouble. I, personally, was at the library." :D

please.......get a clue.

Calling OU a party school, is like calling Port Clinton a beach town. Its 100% tame compared to South Beach/OSU.

Yes OU is a great place for Halloween, and thats why kids all across the Eastern US come to our Halloween party.

Are you comming to the big game on Saturday? OU 26/Kent 20

No, I will pass on a 12 hour drive each way to watch these two college football powerhouses play.

Besides, 26-20 OU will be spun as a victory for Kent. Our head coach will remind us that we lost by 50 last year, so we are much improved and now competitive.

I only wish I was kidding.
