As for a question(s), please ask the Commissioner, is the MAC proud of certain football programs graduation rates (Marshall, WMU, Miami and the others). What will the MAC do (if anything) to help the other programs increase their graduation rates and field competitive football teams?

Also, will the MAC discourage any members from scheduling games with exiting members of the MAC (i.e. Miami plays CFU or Ohio plays Marshall)?

Finally, any chance he would desire to become the Commissioner of CUSA?

He has done a great job as Commissioner of the MAC!

Hey Flash,

If Kent can not get fans to attend the game with the "can of corn" food drive (i.e. bring a can of corn and get in free to the game) I do not think radio and TV promotions will help....only joking.

Actually, the best example of what to do would be to look at NIU. A few seasons ago NIU did not have attendance and very little media coverage. Now, their 2004 games might get 25,000 + per game and some games last season were on WSCR (670 AM). NIU has really turned it around via upgraded facility, winning football team, good coach and community involvement.

I would think that Chryst would want a career move that would be going upward, not a lateral move.

herdinchicago: Didn't find your Bob Dole joke funny. Have you gotten your @$$ shot up lately defending freedom? IMO some things just shouldn't be joked about or laughed at.

1. What plans are in place to get more than "one bid" to the NCAA tournament?
I think that's a good one.

Also, in line w/ a previously posed question:

What about moving the Patriot Bowl to various sites? Wouldn't this help keep the event fresh, and give exposure to more MAC schools?

For example:
Paul Brown Stadium (get the AFA involved), RCA Dome, Soldier Field(obvious sell out w/ Navy)...

and finally,

What's the MAC to do about Div IA opponents not honoring return visits? or scheduling MAC teams at all? IAA opponents hurt the MAC's public image, and draw less interest from fans.

herdinchicago - You are forgiven. Thanks for the kind words for the military of which I had the pleasure to have served in from 1978-1998.

Attached is a picture of Mike McNaughton. He stepped on a land mine in Afghanistan Christmas 2002. President Bush came to visit the wounded in the hospital. He told Mike that when he could run a mile, that they would go on a run together. True to his word, he called Mike every
month or so to see how he was doing. Well, last week they went on the run, 1 mile with the president. Not something you'll see in the news, but seeing the president taking the time to say thank you to the wounded and to give hope to one of my best friends was one of the greatest/best things I have seen in my life. It almost sounds like a corny email chain letter, but God bless him.

Our attendance and press coverage has turned around dramatically - winning, while the other 1A state schools and ND struggling, helps.

For the record - we paid to have WSCR broadcast our Alabama game (that was the only one).

Justin,

Thanks for protecting our county. I know the military and the President have a lot of unnecessary critics.

Because of you (and other military persons) we are able to post on message boards, go to football games, earn a living, live a "good" and "safe" life. Even after 9-11 we are still the safest county in the world.

More people should know about Mike McNaughton.

Mike...Go USA!!! (and Go Herd!!!)

I would be interesting in Chryst's insight regarding the MAC hoops tourney @ Gund Arena. Are the Gateway people happy with the attedance numbers? Can we bank on the Gund/MAC deal for the next 5+ years?

The current contract runs through 2007, if memory serves. I'm sure that will be extended soon.

Even though one of my alma maters is going to C-USA the other, OU, is staying so my question is this.

Do the commissioners of the non-BCS conferences ever talk to each other in a friendly way? Do they ever discuss proposals to help each other out rather than stab each other in the back? In general, does he have hard feelings against Britton for what transpired or does he see it for what it is, business?

The other questions people have are very good. I would love to see him say something different than the normal "we're confident and storming ahead" BS.
