Ohio Stadium had a track until a few years ago. Would you call that high schoolish? I've been to UB, and they have a very nice stadium, and being pushed away from the field by the track is only a minor annoyance. The football team might not get it done on the field, but no one can complain about the adminstration's efforts in becoming a quaility D-1 program.
yeah, actually I would have. smart move on their part, helps to promote football when football is your intention. how many recruits do you think are gonna come in and think of how nice it looks to have a track circling THEIR playing arena, kinda screws with the scene. if this is not a problem, then forgive me, but there must have been reasoning with people who at least had thoughts the same as the ones I have or those tracks would still circle stadiums such as the one ohio had.
Yeah, Ohio State really has the reputation for losing recruits. Heck, can't think of any recruits these guys pulled in while having that eyesore track. Definitely held them back.
times change torch, how many years ago are you talking here. perception is not the same now as it was then. things like that matter.
They don't matter in the least if you win.

I believe about a year ago or so, OHIO FOOTBALL complained that it was stupid to use the quote boxes at all, which naturally prompted a rush of them on the thread to the point of absurdity.
Very funny, it was. :D

It's not a track issue, but the imposter institution in Coral Gables (i.e., the University of Miami Hurricanes) plays in what most folks consider to be a dreadful facility. Nonetheless, they don't appear to have significant problems recruiting.
USC plays in the LA Colisseum, which is not only older than God but also probably more famous for its track than its football field. But they don't seem to be suffering either.

You can also add "with some of the worst sightlines of any sports venue in the U.S."...

Damn, all these years and it turns out it was the track that encircles the football field at Rynearson Stadium that has kept our football program down. Damn!

While researching the Rubber Bowl, I found out that it used to have a midget auto racing track inside it. No joke!
Could you imagine the potential Herd recruits who would have ended up swearing allegiance to Zippy if they still had that???

No. You give us an example of a recruit that has cited the track around a FB field as keeping them from making a top flight program his pick.
