You guys dont have any clue to what you are talking about. Basketball is a marathon not a sprint which means teams have slow starts. NIU doesnt have blue chippers so therefore there wont be the 9-1 start most schools have. For those of you basketball gurus if Im not mistaken Maestranzi is 4th or 5th in the conference in assist. Last year around this time the team was just where it is now and yall seen what happened. For the record the kids name is Jonathan Byrd not James Byrd. Since you guys are obviously experts why dont you share with the rest of us who the starting five should be. Coming from you guys this should be interesting.

Wow NoClue needs to relax.

Our teams playing poorly and people are getting upset. It happens not everyone is going to be happy all the time you know?

But if your happy with a losing record thats fine, others aren't.

But 5 in the conference in assists!

Wait, what does coming in 5th in the MAC get us?

Nobody said they were happy with a losing record. Im just not quick to bash the team and the players like everyone else. This team has alot of potential and just like everyother fan I go on these message boards and I see people voicing their opinions and most dont know what they are talking about. For example I read one post and some guy said that the team was overrated ok granted 4-6 isnt great, but the real season hasnt started yet. Nobody is going to care about Cornell College once conference tournament comes around. Ill give yall benefit of the doubt if things arent turned around by conference play which starts Saturday go ahead say whatever, but until then give these guys a chance

But honestly does everyone think NIU has a chance to win the Conference

No interior defense, 20+ turnovers a game, very poor 3 pt. shooting, and poor offesive execution. These are not good signs. AM may be 5th in Assits, but he is also a defensive liabilty. This team has only 4 wins with a very easy non conference schedule. Compared to what WMU & Toledo have shown so far, there is only a slim window of hope for the HUskies to go anywhere this year. You can not compare to last year, because evey team is waiting for the Huskies this year. I certainy hope they turn it around, but the team deserves to be questioned based on their performance thus far.

Conference play already began. We lost to Marshall. Again. I have said before that poor starts don't mean anything as the MAC season/tournament is all that really matters at this point in terms of the post season that I want to see. Right now however it looks like we are a team content at taking a lot of three's...........which, when your missing them...leads to alot of transition baskets. Mastranzi is a nice little player, but he doesn't seem to penetrate well, which would open up our shooters alot more as Bates did last year, even though Bates had his own flaws. Losing all three games in that tournament is not a good sign as we did not play very good teams. I don't think anyone on this board is giving up on the these guys, but right now they don't look good. Saying no on one on this board has a clue, maybe your opinion, but the fact is we are 4-6, and our competition hasn't been that stellar.

We're all diehard Huskie fans here and no one will ever give up on them, even if they don't win another game all season.

Thus far, this team has sucked balls, simple as that.

Sure, it's not prudent to get too worked up about OOC games, but in the one conference game we played, we got absolutely dominated and all of our flaws were exposed and exploited in a big way.

I still believe there are reasons for optimism. However, like any true sports fan, I'm horribly superstitious, so I'm not going to mention them just yet for fear of jinxing us.... :(

Nevertheless, it sure ain't looking good at the moment. But we do have the real season coming up, and even if we don't do well in MAC play, theres always the chance we'll catch fire the week of March 11th 04-rock

Go HUSKIES!! Looking forward to next Saturday's game against Ohio! I'll be bringing my four month old son, Baby Corn, to his first sporting event!! I expect his presence alone should bring us a W; the kid's got good Huskie karma, having been born on the day of our big win over Maryland!!! 04-rock

And if the Huskies stink out the joint on January 3, please bring Baby Corn out onto the court and see if he can hit some free throws. He just may teach the Huskies a thing or two! :crying:
